NCL CAS COMPS

I'm still cruising, but I did confirm that the CASNext certificates are $250 off a future cruise if you earn 5K points during the cruise, and $500 off for 10K points.

The cruise isn't over, but I stopped playing after losing $5K due to all the CAS changes. Sorry, NCL, I am going to add what else I would have played to my gambling $$$ for my June Celebrity cruise (Blue Chip has been good to me although I've heard others have been having issues with them, too!) Btw, the folio comp on my $5K loss is going to be $200 per the host. I hope these new policies work out for NCL lol

So you can no longer get comped cruises?   Just the $250 or $500 off.  Wow!   We sail on Monday on the Gem.  It will be interesting to see what we get.   If it's only $500 off a new cruise,   then, you are right,  time to look elsewhere.   We have friends that sail Carnival,  and they get sooooo much better deals from the Casino.

No, the CASNext certificates don't replace the comp cruises (I've booked 2 comp cruises while I've been onboard.) But my comps used to be Haven, and now all I am offered is Club Balconies. I'm not gambling $10K for a "free" Club Balcony. My Celebrity offer was for The Retreat (their version of the Haven.) I'd rather give them my gambling money at this point 😊.

Ok,  so it's like getting a free cruise next certificate.   But the comp cruises are not as good as they were.   Can you use the $500 towards the Administrative Fee?   Thank you so much for taking the time out of your cruise  for all the info.   Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

Sorry to hear that the CAS changes are so significantly reducing your usual comps.  I'll be playing a little more carefully on our next cruise while we see what is happening for us.

Do the CASNEXT certificates need to be booked within a year, or you must sail within a year?   We have four CAS comps booked through April of 2024.  If I get CASNext, would want it to be for cruises sailing over a year out.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your cruise and have a safe trip home😊

Yes, you can use them just like CruiseNext certificates. And thanks! 😊

I'm not sure since I didn't earn one, although if I didn't earn 5K points I'd be surprised - but I always play my points as I go. I asked the host about the CASNext when I was finalizing my folio credit - and here's what he said that makes me think you shouldn't play your points. He said, "if you had 5K points at the end of the cruise, that's worth $50 - but now we can offer you 5x that in a CASNext certificate towards a future cruise. Same with 10K - we can give you 5x the $100 in a certificate." I'd used/spent all my points by then, so I just assumed that's why I didn't get one (and was in a rush so didn't even question it.)

Thanks for the good wishes! 😊

I've experienced the same type of insulting CAS offers of late as all of you are commenting about.

I don't have a rating at RCL or other lines, but plenty of ratings at land-based casinos.

For those of you that have tried to get matched status as a newbie, is that even possible?

This is in reference to my previous post #20.   I called today, spoke to a different agent, and the results were so different from what I was told earlier.    I qualified for a spa club balcony, unfortunately, not a spa person, nor did I want to be under the pool deck.   I took a lesser cabin, aft balcony, and using both of my casino next certificates I paid nothing, in fact had $27 left over, that will be forfeited, but the cruise was literally free.    The representative on the phone makes all the difference in the world,  from $2600 last week, to free this week.    Hooray!!!!!!

YAY!!!   Much better news. Calling back and getting a better informed agent worked!

Regarding using your Casino Next certificates-   Do you know if you can book within a year for a cruise that is MORE than one year away?

Thanks for reporting back to us!

Good for you!

The CAS agents have been awful recently. Last week I was offered an ocean view based on some unknown certificate on my account. I told them it was an insult. Then I got one of the "I talked to my supervisor and they said to use the certificate". I told them to try again with a more senior supervisor... and they called back a couple of hours later with a Club Spa Balcony to Alaska later this year.

Sand and Seas, I am looking at the certificates now, and under terms and conditions it does not list a book by or use by.    Just that it must be 3 days or longer cruise.   Limit of one can be used, unless during a double up promotion.  Cannot be combined with cruise first or cruise next certificates. Help that helps.

Great news.  Did you pre-pay your DSC?  Rather than let the $27 go to waste, you could have prepaid the DSC, or simply ordered $30 in OBC and paid the extra $3.  this is what I've done whenever I booked a comped using two cruisenext certs, when the double up promo was happening.  It's probably too late for you now that you've completed the booking, but something to consider next time

dbrown84, was told it could not be converted to OBC, that would have been ideal.

no, not converted.  You could ask to "buy" $30 of OBC during your booking.  Then when it's time to pay, you present your two certs and now you only owe $3.  Now, I've done that with cruisenext certs.  I hope they don't have a rule specifically with the casino next certs that forbids this.  I just hate giving freebies back.  I believe even an entry into a blackjack tournament is $30.  Oh well, you got a great deal anyway.  Have a great trip!!!

OP here. Originally offered 20% off an oceanview. (About $400.00). This after our last seven or eight cruises were comped balconies or clubs. After several phone calls and e-mails, ( to different , more experienced reps), was able to get $1800.00 off a club balcony. Still have to pay the usual charges and admin fee, plus a smaller charge towards the club.Grateful, but the offers have still declined overall. Our casino spend hasn't changed in ten or more years. But the offers certainly have.

What are CASnext certificates? In all my years gambling on NCL, never heard of it.

can they be used with cruise next? (ie: 250 + 250 off)?

New program that I'm hoping to try on our upcoming cruise.  From what I understand it is like CN but can't be used with CN.  You earn one 250 cert for 5000 tier earned on cruise.  One person reported earning over 10k tier and being offered two 250 cert plus some obc by host.  You can apply two certs for a booking that qualifies for Doubleup.

Do not convert your tier points to Freeplay if you want the certs.

5k points = $50 freeplay or obc. so That's a deal!
Can only use casNext on cas cruises, right? But even '20% off cas discount' counts?

Now makes more sense to carry points over to next cruise.

ie: only earned 4k points. Normally that automatically gets converted to $40 obc if you dont convert it to freeplay.

but tell casino host to carry it over to next cruise so you're basically saving up for a casNext

when did this start?

Yes it does sound like a great deal.  I don't know if carryover points will qualify but that would be good to ask the host on the first day.

As Ruby tier I start each cruise with 400 obc then on last evening host gives me more based on play.  (Not easy to spend another three or four hundred last day😏).

I would much rather get 500 off next cruises admin fees & port charges!

ahh.. so the casNext is in lieu of extra obc at end of cruise?
yeah, i'll take that instead of buying stuff i may never use

Yes, there are only so many watches you can buy.

CasNext certs are sounding good to me. I've heard it's a one year limit to use them and I've just used up my supply of Cruise next.

I was on a cruise over New  Years and it wasn't offered on that one.  I believe it started on some ships in January.  Perhaps for cruises that boarded in January?

Casino hosts never mentioned it on my b2b Bliss cruise last month and i spoke to them a few times over those 2 weeks including the Executive host.

but i only earned about 3k points each cruise.

Maybe you have to earn 5k in a cruise to be able to buy it?

Some info in posts 31 and 36 above.  I've also seen mention in some other threads .

Every mention I've heard has been from someone earning 5k or 10k or more in a cruise.  On my cruise over NYears I earned over 10k and nothing mentioned by host.  The Exec Host spoke with us every day and never talked about it.   (She did send lots of treats though) 😊
