I'll be somewhere between Old Havana cigar shop, Singh's Roti, Cemetery Beach, or West End on the public bus...

I’m sitting on bench in the shade at the Bayshore Mall, using their free WiFi, and waiting for my wife to get back from her snorkel tour.  The mall is South of the cruise dock, near the Hard Rock Cafe.  We plan to walk North a bit past the dock to a great seafood place on the water that we found on our last trip here.  Join us if you like.

No luck again, so I decided that I wasn't leaving empty handed. I found a really nice bottle of tequila that was listed at 1,221 pesos. With that in hand my adventure came to an end on our short port time today...

Hell of a deal--that is 65%+ cheaper than in the US.

And probably REAL tequila...not mescal pretending to be tequila that we buy in the US.

NICE.

Is there a beach within walking distance of the pier, James?  Will be in GC for the first time next month and have no idea what to do.

We were on a bus in GC and went past a cemetery.  We were at a stoplight, I glanced over and saw two tombstones next to each other, Rebecca and Elizabeth.  My sister is Rebecca and I am Elizabeth, I sent her a message and told her I will NEVER go to GC with her!

Well, I'm back from my adventure in GC, and I accomplished pretty much everything I wanted to do, albeit with a few minor hiccups... Roti at Sing's, check. Swimming in the ocean, check. Cuban cigars, check... I'm about to get in the shower again, and then I'll try and get caught up... See ya soon...

@sid_9169, this may not apply to you if you have the super-duper internet package, but for those of us who just have the regular internet connection I discovered something wonderful today on the Sky.  NCL has for several years stated that there was free access to their own website as well as to Cruise Critic.  No need to burn up your precious minutes looking up a future cruise or something else on the NCL site, plus chat on CC to your heart’s content for free.  The only catch has been that the “free” sites have been interminably slow.  I gave up on trying to access CC for free when we were on the Prima last September.  I’m on the Sky now, browsing CC at almost normal speed, and not using any of my internet minutes.  YAY!!!

All showered off, and ready to conquer the rest of the day here on the beautiful Norwegian Prima... Costume number two: a replica of the shirt Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) wore in Fight Club...

When I finally made it to shore in GC, I headed straight through town away from the tourist area to one of my all time favorites in the Caribbean; Singh's Roti... This ended up being probably the best or next best thing I've eaten the entire cruise... The chicken Roti has chicken and potatoes in a curry sauce, and it's wrapped in a giant Roti bread that's soft and buttery...

Next, I walked around the block to a cigar shop that I was hoping would have a box of something nice to bring home. Unfortunately their stock was incredibly low, and I wasn't about to waste my time with a couple of sticks when I really wanted a box of something good. Not their fault, but "supply chain issues" that we've all been experiencing lately... I just moved on soon afterwards towards the bus terminal in town. By the way, there are a LOT of banks in GC... My bus driver said there was over a hundred, and most of them don't just allow any Tom Dick or Harry to walk in...PXL_20230208_165446826.thumb.jpg.2e80704c63d2a2a8779817a7934e2aa1.jpg

There was only one other person on the entire van, so my driver passed me off to another fuller bus going in the same direction. No problem, as I realize that has prices being what they are you have to have more passengers to make any money...

We passed the public beach where 90% of the cruise passengers go, and continued North to what I call "cemetery beach"... It's obvious why they call it that, and it happens to be probably the best place to snorkel straight from the beach, although you have to swim out pretty far. I didn't bring my mask, and my goal was just to get myself into the beautiful blue water here.

When you get to the end of the path there's a beach with beautiful blue water, and there was probably around twelve to fifteen people as far as I could see in both directions. That's why I "go the extra mile", rather than deal with the hustle and bustle of seven mile public beach. There aren't any chairs or restrooms or any amenities at all, but there's something you just can't hardly get on a busy ship day like today...PXL_20230208_172843844.thumb.jpg.b9f847d48b645a402ec5dc5432273c8d.jpg
