FYI, this is an extract of the invoice I received from New C's booking agent. FP is 4 months before embarkation...

CANCELLATION DETAILS All Crystal cruises may be cancelled prior to the final payment date with only an administration fee being assessed. Once the respective final payment date arrives, the below fee structure applies.

DESTINATION FEES The cruise fare is inclusive of $700.00 per person destination fees. All fare savings or benefits are calculated net of destination fees.

TERMS AND CONDITION For our full Booking Terms and Conditions, please visit https://www.crystalcruises.com/ legal/ booking-terms-conditions"

No details about cancellation protection as carried by HAL etc. No info about covid protection. What happens if you test positive just before the cruise? No info about when we can book direct online??

The price for 8 nights solo is acceptable to me. But, I've uncomfortable with the lack of clarity. For the time being, I'll pass  on this opportunity. Hope that early pax will provide feedback to the rest of us. Thanks!

Very wise, that's what I am doing.

I like clarity when spending my money and I'm afraid at the moment all is not clear.

When you say Covid not sure what you mean these days. In general most cruise lines are not even testing but if you want protection getting an insurance policy is your friend.  Wouldn't the same apply to cancellation protection. I guess I need more clarity on your question.

Actually, covid is still present on cruise ships. See posts with photos here...

Significant numbers of people are taking a test at the ship's medical center. In addition, others are reporting that they tested positive AFTER disembarkation.

In addition, a significant number of itineraries require pre-boarding tests and/or masking. Last I heard, it included East Asia, Australasia, Panama canal and parts of South America.

HAL has a policy where you get a FCC if you are unable to board your cruise, or if you are quarantined whilst onboard. That's necessary because whilst third party insurance policies pay out for trip interruptions, their covid coverage may lapse once Public Health raises the alert status.

I have a Canadian annual travel insurance with TD Insurance. Their covid coverage becomes an exclusion once our Public Health raises the red flag. What will I do if it happens after I made FP?

HAL sells a protection policy. You can cancel for any reason and receive a 80-90% refund. So, useful if the covid situation gets out of hand, war breaks out in Europe, or health restrictions onboard becomes too onerous.

Insurance will be your best friend.

Most cruise lines do not do this and I would not expect Crystal to do it.

So if this is important i would look at insurance or sail a line that offers this.
