Disembarkation

Hi, first time cruisers doing the Barcelona-Rome 7 night cruise in July. My question is about disembarking on the last day, the ship is due in at 5am and was wondering when we would be leaving the ship ? Do you get breakfast on the last day or are you expected to leave asap ? We will be taking a train to Rome and wondering what time we should be looking at booking the train from Civitavecchia.

Thank you

Welcome to cruise critic!

Breakfast is served in the buffet and one main dining room usually until 8:30 but rooms need to be vacated by 8 am IIRC.  The hours will be posted in the last night's Patter and probably on the disembarkation notice delivered to your cabin.  I think usually they aim to have disembarkation completed by 9:30 am.

One of the advantages of the Barcelona - Rome cruise is that it is part of a three week cruise (Barcelona - Rome - Athens - Barcelona) so not everybody on board is disembarking. The whole breakfast experience is therefore much more relaxed, and you do not get the crowding you get on a normal turn round day.

Keep in mind the buffet and dining room will be jammed - people go there and just sit until their time comes to disembark so getting a table gets a bit tricky.  Be prepared to grab your plate and find a place to sit somewhere else 🙂

Can you request an earlier disembarkation as the train is 09.15 or is there some sort of order ?

Thanks

A lot depends on when the ship docks!  They normally try to start getting folks off ASAP - and the earliest way is to do a self help disembarkation where you carry your own bags off instead of having them piicked up the night before.  Those folks are the first off as soon as the ship is cleared.

We usually just have room service breakfast the day we disembark, we order double room service the day before and keep it in the fridge, avoids all the chaos of the last morning

Thanks, ship due in at 5am, no problem taking own bags off the ship.

Never really known disembarkation start earlier than 7am, regardless of the time the ship docks. The timing is dependent on the ship being "cleared" by the relevant authorities, and this is outside of the control of Princess.

You will probably receive a form to fill out during the cruise. USe this form to request self-disembarkation.

If you are not assigned the first scheduled self-disembarkation time, go to the Passengers Services Desk to request what you need.

Can also call Cust Serv desk from your cabin to request it.

Have you thought about taking a Disembarkation tour?

Thats what were doing when we get off in Rome.

No time for a tour when the train leaves at 9:15 AM.

We get off in Athens with a Princess transfer to hotel. How early do they take us off and go to hotel? Anybody have experience with this? Only excursions they have end at the airport so will be going to hotel, leave bags (check in isn't until 3:00) and head out hopefully on a tour just need to have times set up.

Thznks
