jonthomas Posted February 25, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2023 I seem to remember them in one of the Specialty Restaurants, but have not seen them on any of our current few cruises. One lunch time, in the Terrace they had fries that seemed hand cut, with some skin on them. They were amazing. I asked for them the next day, they seemed to have vanished from the ship. Any other french fries enthusiasts out there? Please chime in.
OhState1 Posted February 25, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2023 Shoe string fries are delicious, but I will always choose curly fries if given the choice. Haven’t been on my first cruise yet, so I don’t know what I’ll be able to find.

CAG Posted February 26, 2023 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2023 I vaguely remember that there was an item on the GDR lunch menu that came with Shoestring potatoes. Like Jan, I have more than 500 days so I can't tell you what the time was or how long ago it was. I do remember that my late husband loved the shoestring potatoes and tried to get them at dinner in the GDR but to no avail.
Cliff-FLL Posted February 26, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2023 Given my druthers, I'd take shoestring fries over anything they currently offer. With LOTS of salt. Oh, don't mess them up with artificial truffle flavoring. We're Oceania passengers. We know the difference. And don't forget to bring them out with a side of mayonnaise.

turnip eater Posted February 26, 2023 #13 Share Posted February 26, 2023 Oh! Steak fries, or chunky chips in the UK, are glorious. Delicious! Good news for me that O serve Steak fries. 😄 Sorry to digress.
jonthomas Posted February 26, 2023 Author #14 Share Posted February 26, 2023 no problem...this is an all french fries topic.... yes plenty of steak fries....everywhere... I saw them load on bags and bags of the same fries ...was sorry not to see shoestring or with some skins... those are my fave.... but hey they also have baked potatoes all the time.... and mashed, but those are too soft for my likes, like them a bit more firm..but I am digressing here as well.... should have made it an all potato topic....lol....

Rare mauibabes Posted February 26, 2023 #17 Share Posted February 26, 2023 Ditto, save some for me on Vista in May. Maybe a new French Fry staple in Embers 🤪. Actually please ensure these new Oceania delicacies come Cardiologist Approved 🙏😁 See you all soon and enjoy your cruise. Mauibabes
OhState1 Posted February 27, 2023 #18 Share Posted February 27, 2023 French fry related - can you get a spicy or garlicky aioli instead of catsup with the fries? I dislike catsup/ketchup. Even plain mayo with some Tabasco to make my own would suffice.

jackdeb Posted February 27, 2023 #22 Share Posted February 27, 2023 The pic of those true shoestrings is mouthwatering. Maybe more of us should ask for them when on board, talk to FB manager, mention them in the comment cards, keep persevering.
