Changing cabin after booking

I have an update for anyone interested...A PVP contacted me today and said she could move me to aft of the ship for same price but all the cabins available were connecting ones which I don't like. So it really wouldn't be worth it to move if that's all i'd get.

I did see an L shaped cabin available down on the Upper floor all the way aft, and sent her an e mail inquiring what penalties i'd pay if I wanted to move there and am awaiting her replay on that. It's been a couple of hours now so I guess the answer is not good lol.

If I booked that L cabin now (6473) on the Carnival website it costs $200 more than my current price, so i'm wondering if it's worth paying $200 for a location i'd prefer, or just stay in the Grand Central Station mid ship area this time and chalk it up as a learning experience and never book mid ship near the elevators again!

The more I think about it, the more I may just pay the $200---it has that long balcony as well as the quiet area so I personally feel it could be worth $50/day for it.

why email ? Just pick up the phone and get it done. They may be gone for the day now though.

Good luck

If only it were that easy lol but I wouldn't be able to hear her on the other end of the line so it has to be email. 💻

Changing cabins means canceling the original booking and re-booking the new cabin - you would lose any perks tied to that original booking if there isn't currently a similar offer code available. When I did it last year for my Mardi Gras cruise my PVP waived the change fee and I ended up booking a new promo that gave me more OBC so it was a real win-win.

I not only changed cabins but changed ships and sail dates today. Booking number stayed the same. No charge.

But it is true any promotions you originally booked still need to be available. Also I am going to have to re-book the steakhouse and re-purchase my Internet package at the higher price.

I that wasn't enough, a few hours later I changed cabins to one I liked better. Still the same booking number.

You can change ships and sail dates with no penalty?! I did that many years ago and it was something like a $50 change fee. Is that waived now? If so, I may just pick a whole new sail date then.

It depends on the booking code terms and conditions. Mine was under a casino offer. But my point was the booking number didn't change for me.

Depending on what ship you are on, if the L-shape is on the upper deck (deck 6) just beware of what is below you.  It may be the comedy club, and you may hear residual noise.  While there definitely will be less foot traffic there if you are an early to bed kind of person it may not be the best.  We make sure our L-shapes (or any cabin for that matter) is sandwiched between floors of cabins.

Thanks for the advice, but noise is not an issue with me. I'd sleep like a baby if I were right on top of the dance club lol. I never had the L shaped cabin before and I like what I see of them on you tube videos.

I forgot to add, it looks like it will cost $275 to get that L shaped cabin for this sailing, and that's too much imo...(I was willing to go as high as $200)...so i'll have to try that cabin for another time.

Currently, all the available cabins in my category for my December sailing are connected ones so I turned down the offer to change with no fees.

But I remember reading once that blocks of cabins do open up as the sailing gets closer. So can it be possible that there are non connecting cabins to choose from that just haven't been released for sale yet?

I do find it strange that only connecting cabins are showing as available for a sailing that's still 9 months away. Maybe Carnival wants to get rid of them first? If that's the case, i'll check daily to see if/when a non connecting cabin opens and then have the PVP move me there asap.

You will love that cabin, we love the L-shaped ones with the extra balcony space.  They usually have a lounger on them to really relax.  We have had them on Deck 6 & 7 and had no issues with them.  It would be worth the upgrade price for us in a heartbeat.  Hope you can snag it while it is available, they usually book up fast, someone must've cancelled or upgraded.  Good Luck in getting a better location!

lol now you got me second thinking if I should just pay the $275 to get that cabin! I do love that it has a big lounger to lay on. My balcony last week did feel a bit cramped with the 2 chairs and little table squeezed into it so a lounger to lay out on would be a treat!

And since I do spend a lot of time relaxing and enjoying the balcony, i'm starting to think it may be worth the extra money after all. Decisions decisions....

Actually those rooms use to be the same price as a regular balcony on all ships at one time back before covid. We would always try to book them way out because there were so few of them.  Then they realized that these were better rooms and increased the price and renamed them as a premium balcony (or something similar in name) on the dream class ships and up.  They are still worth it and we enjoyed the different layout of the room as well.  The $275 sounds like a good deal to me!

Did you call the diamond line, the regular line, or do you have a PVP/TA?

Asking because I am trying to get deposits moved over to a different, more expensive sailing but the dates are the same.

It's strange, my PVP quoted the $275 for the change and I e mailed her this morning but in the meantime I called the Carnival line to see if I got the same quote and snag the room in case it went away by the time the PVP replied.

Well, on the phone the rep said there was absolutely no way for me to downgrade to 6473 when the PVP was able to. I didn't mention the PVP to the phone rep but she said she couldn't do anything for me as far as changing unless it was category 8C or higher. So I thanked her and will just wait on the PVP reply.

I think it's so strange and silly that they don't allow downgrades. They're making an extra $275 bucks for giving me a lower room and opening up an expensive cabin that i'm leaving for them to sell at a much higher price. It's a win/win for them lol. It just seems so stupid.

So i'll just wait for the PVP to reply. (I've had PVP's in the past and I always unfortunately get stuck with the ones who take DAYS to reply back to e mails. I hope this one isn't like that....but with my luck she'll reply after Easter lol)

Diamond line. YMMV.

I got cabin 7439 for the $275 more!! The PVP emailed me and said 6473 was already gone so she couldn't give me that anymore, but she has 7439 available if I want it and told me what my new balance due would be and I quickly replied back to accept it and there's no change fee or having to cancel and rebook to get it.

It's also a down grade because this is 8B category and I was 8C but that phone rep earlier today insisted that I can absolutely, no way in hell, not in this universe ever down grade a cabin and that I can only upgrade lol.

So I guess it pays to have a PVP help you out because she did it easy peasy and I have my new confirmation with no issues. I'm just so glad that's over and the more I look at the cabin on you tube, the more I think it's worth paying the extra money. 2 windows, a large balcony and a lounger...i'm thrilled!! 🙂 🙂

We had 7439 on the Freedom in January. We love these cabins. Click on the link for a tour! :classic_cool:

Freedom Cabin # 7439

Thanks for those pics! I really like the layout of this cabin with the long hallway to get to the main area and also having the bathroom way in the back rather than right next to the front door.

And that lounger I will be laying on most of the time lol. The chairs are fine but you can't take naps in it haha. And also it's wayyyy in the back of the ship where there's much less foot traffic and no colliding with people when exiting the cabin. I'm so glad I was able to snag it!

Just curious, it sounds like you got a solution that works for you (yay!), but if noise isn't an issue for you, why opposed to connecting cabins?  I know some people say to avoid them at all costs, but that's really the only downside to them, is the noise.  And even with that said, I've had one on a couple of occasions, and never had an issue.

Unless you snore like a bear and are trying to spare the passenger next door...😄

I don't even like them in hotel rooms. I just have this irrational fear that someone can open their side of the connecting door and then find a way to open my side and break in. I know it most likely can't happen, but for peace of mind, I just prefer to avoid them.

So glad it worked out for you!  Now the hard part, once you sail in this type of cabin, you won't want to book anything else. 😂  But seriously the room layout is much better as Jamman54 posted above.  And the bathroom layout is easier access as well and not in the way of the closet area. We always enjoy the aft area that is close to the aft stairways and elevators.  Enjoy your cabin!
