compman9 Posted March 6, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2023 I live in a port four days before the end of a transatlantic on the Oasis that I am looking at booking. Will I be allowed to take my suitcase off to drop them home early? The cruise ends four days later, which I could manage with hand luggage (which would make my flight home cheaper) 😀
easyqueasy Posted March 6, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2023 I don’t see why not. If anything, you can show them that you still have luggage in your room to retrieve after the day in port.
Merion_Mom Posted March 6, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2023 Some people have reported problems with doing this sort of thing, but you will have to ask and see what they say. The issues, I believe, involve passing through customs.

RD64 Posted March 6, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 6, 2023 This is not an RCI issue - it is a British customs issue.
neverbeenhere Posted March 6, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 6, 2023 We have friends on couple of islands that do this. They always pack their things off in a duffle bag. Both couples claim to never having been questioned. Sometimes they are just taking things home to wash and to water the plants.

How long ago was that, Royal changed their policy 2 years ago.

Joseph2017China Posted March 6, 2023 #9 Share Posted March 6, 2023 Regardless what anyone says here.......you will need to ask on the ship to get the answer. (it might be the complete opposite of what this board tells you)

MCC retired Posted March 6, 2023 #11 Share Posted March 6, 2023 You would be bypassing Customs . I say no way allowed.
Rare RobInMN Posted March 6, 2023 #12 Share Posted March 6, 2023 According to @RCCL Fan, he was told that if he attempt to leave the ship with luggage, he would be stopped by (local?) authorities and not allowed to leave with the luggage. I can't imagine that if you attempted to explain that you will return that they would believe you.
loman Posted March 6, 2023 #13 Share Posted March 6, 2023 What if you get off the ship with a back pack stuffed with dirty clothes, go home and return with a back pack full of clean clothes ? Just dont use your suitcase so you dont arouse suspicion .
