Anthem engine issues this week

Difficult to read.

I’ll paraphrase for you:

Trouble with one engine; working on repair.

Thus going at slower speed.

That will delay arrivals to Port Canaveral and Nassau.

The Port Canaveral stop is anticipated to be very short…4p arrival-7:30 all aboard.

Nassau est.arrival 1pm.

Compensation: OBC equal to 1 day cruise fare.

Boarding Anthem on Sunday - hopefully the issues will be resolved.

I hope it is resolved before you board.  Do you have big plans in Port Canaveral that would be impacted if the problem is not resolved?

My parents are on the ship right now.  Port Canaveral is being skipped.  They haven't heard anything about the other ports.

Cruisemapper seems to still show them beelining straight for orlando....

No plans at all for Canaveral - was going to stay on the ship.

Nassau - an excursion through Royal

Not that Canaveral is a good port to visit, but that's a rough one - 7 day cruise with 2 stops if they skip Canaveral.

Sunday will be our first time on Anthem out of a cold-weather port.  Balcony pricing was crazy cheap, so we'll see - rolling the dice on this one, but we figured that the Solarium is enclosed, so should be fine.

Apparently Anthem also sent out letters about an azipod issue back in Jan 2022 and also had to reduce speed and had a slightly delayed return back into Bayonne....not sure what had to be done but think the next sailing went out as scheduled....not sure if there were more issues reported since.

Anthem azipods suffered significant damage back in that storm they hit back in 2016 where they burnt out all 4 clutches of one azipod and had to shut it down completely. Think that incident required replacing the clutches of both azipods.

I see that, but it's saying an ETA of  8pm tonight - maybe they are stopping for some maintenance items or service?

Thanks for the info. We will be on the Anthem on Sunday (hi Toddcan, maybe we'll see you around the ship).

We have done this cruise about eight times (it's our anniversary celebration) but on NCL. We were planning to skip P.C anyway, so it isn't an issue for us. In Nassau we might go to Junkanoo beach--or not.

I do like the OBC part, though,

We thought the same thing. We live right by Port Canaveral and we’re hoping to watch them sail in today. They often pick up supplies while docked here so I wonder if they do dock this afternoon for a couple hours if it’ll just be for that?

We board the 19th and fortunately didn't plan to get off the ship in Port Canaveral (just spent 6 nights there over Christmas).  If Nassau is bumped back an hour that's fine too.  Hopefully they have the issue resolved by then.

So if this is still an issue, I would actually welcome it since we would actually get some compensation back for something that barely impacts us.

Sorry to all you impacted on current sailing

Exactly our plans, skip PC and do Junkanoo in Nassau

Nearing Port Canaveral now, while technically not skipped, arrival is now expected at 5:30 pm, all aboard at 7:30 pm.  The Anthem usually gets provisions at Port Canaveral.

We have just arrived at PC. All aboard at 7.30om so ha e less than 2h in port now

Am worried we will be delayed getting back to Bayonne. Lots have flights etc

The ship was doing 15 knots most the way down. Hopefully they can get it sorted.

Assume we stopped here to re provision. I see lots of beer on the dock!

Everyone has been given 1 day credit back. Except me as I was on a casino Comp so nothing to give back haha.
