Shower Curtain hack

I believe you'll find that it's actually the Bernoulli Effect at work, i.e. air pressure drop, more than temperature. Cold showers still cause the curtain to pull in, don't they? The air is "pushed" away by the water from the shower, causing a drop in air pressure in the tub/shower due to the increased speed of the air escaping from the shower. This causes the curtain to be drawn towards the area of lower pressure, the tub. The higher temperature, therefore lower pressure, has a bit of impact, but it's mostly due to  the increased air velocity which causes the lower pressure.

The difference comes down to whether a post intends to inform or impress. I'd rather give a streamlined explanation that meets the moment without going into fine details. Over time on this board, I think you'll find keeping it simple is the best received post. But if anyone is interested, they can read yours.

I’m curious as to why Princess sticks (pun intended) to the old style shower stall with a curtain when most every other cruiseline switched to the larger glass walled showers years ago.

We haven't cruised with Princess since 2010 and was surprised Princess still has shower curtains. Even on the newer ships.

Just taking a stab at the answer, but Princess probably chose curtains because of cost and weight savings.  Shower curtains cost less and are easier to maintain than shower doors.  Shower curtains also weigh less than shower doors so its a weight savings for the ship, which contributes to less fuel consumption (think airplanes and airlines now a days, checked bags in cattle have a max weight of 50 lbs, but back in the day, it was 70 lbs.).

Based on the renderings posted on some websites, the Sun Princess will be the first Princess ship have shower doors.  I'm interested if Princess will follow through.

I’m sure you’re right, it’s the money.  My big issue is that shower curtains are breeding grounds for mold and mildew.  I also wonder what other people are depositing on these curtains that we can’t see, such as Noro virus and other “stuff”.  I think it’s safe to say that room stewards just do not have the time to sanitize the curtains after each sailing and I doubt that they’re replaced often.  If other cruise lines can do it, so can Princess.
