Balcony being viewed by ships cameras?

Just got off of the Carnival Mardi Gras.  I’m not 100% sure what it was but there was an electrical box (mounted outside right above the balcony door) with what appeared to be a camera.

I'm guessing smoke/heat detector but may be  @chengkp75 is "aboat"?

I'm curious what that "camera" did when you turned on the switch inside the door.  😁😉😁

A light was my first thought but I didn’t see a switch.  Maybe I missed it.

Most of us are old or older.  Most of us look pretty bad naked.  They really want to see me naked I don't really care as long as they do not post the videos.

Yes,  that's a heat detector. But, the cameras mounted along the ship's side can see onto the balcony to some extent.

The last time a cruise was 15 years ago and there was a camera on our balcony then.  We just waved at it every morning!

The easiest way to deter voyeur camera intrusions on a balcony is to go out there once naked.  For most cruisers, that will negate 2nd peeks.
