I have 2 reservations on Oasis for August 13th of this year.  We had booked on board last year so we received some on board credit + I own shares in RC so there was additional $100 for my stateroom.  I was online checking my account and the on board credit was not listed.  I called the Crown and Anchor #, got through right away and the guy tells me I'm not entitled to the on board credit for the on board booking.  I tell him I have everything in writing on my booking and let me speak to a supervisor.  He puts me on hold again and comes back and says okay, we're giving it to you.  How dare him?  It's as if they were doing me a favor.

Also, we always book traditional late dining for 8:00 which is on my reservation.  So he says that my reservation for dining is 7:30.  I asked him did they change traditional dining from 8 to 7:30?  he doesn't answer me.  I said I do not want MTD at 7:30, this isn't that, correct?  He insists that it isn't.  Does anyone know if that is true that is true that they changed the traditional late dining from 8 to 7:30?  He said the early seating is 5 not 5:30.  My daughter and I were just on Navigator about a month ago and late seating was 8.

Thanks in advance.

Seating times vary by ship.

I just checked and yes the Oasis has switched to a 7:30 late dining time for sailings from Bayonne in 2023

Nothing to get worked up about.  You got your OBC, it looks like you have MTD at 7:30, they probably don't currently have traditional 8:00 openings, maybe they will waitlist you.  If not, 30 minutes isn't a big deal.

Nah.  The OP has late dining at 7:30 on Oasis, not MTD.  Please  understand that dining times are not standardized across the fleet.  On some itineraries on some ships late dining might start at 8 pm on other ships sailing on other itineraries late dining might be at 7:30 pm.  The OP is experiencing such a difference.

Felt terrible for the MTD'ers on our last cruise. They were all hung up in a huge line, waiting on when they chose to have dinner. As we came in and went back out again, some of them were STILL waiting in line. We're just glad we always book early seating and only do late seating if excursion return times warrant it.

On my February Anthem sail, the early traditional was listed at 5:30 and then on board it became 5:15 and during the sail announcement was made that made it 5.  Don't necessarily go by what is listed on the invoice.

MTD used to be smooth as silk. What have they done to screw it up so bad?  Mix traditional dining in with it?  Why does it have to start so late now?

Based on what's been posted on the boards, Royal is using all dining rooms for early dining.  So all of the tables are "full".  When people start clearing out from Early, they can open tables up for MTD.  But, that's generally not going to be until 6:45p or so.  At least, they can't count on having tables available before that, so they can't take reservations.

Why they can't start seating 30(?- maybe 15) minutes after Early starts based on what tables are available/who didn't show, I don't know.

On my February Anthem sail, some MTD diners were seated at our traditional dining table at 6, as only 5 occupied a table for 8.

Yes, on most ships early traditional dining has all the seats so MTD is not scheduled to start until 6:45 or so.  If there are vacancies (early diners not utilizing the MDR that might), it might be possible that some MTD guests will be seated earlier.

If the app were improved, the dining system could work better.  Imagine: as a traditional dining guest just by tapping a button on the app you could inform the MDR that your party would not be using your assigned table that evening as you have other plans (the MDR table would be immediately available to other guests, if needed).  Imagine: rather than joining a queue, MTD guests could tap a button on the app to signal they’d like a table; they would get an appropriate wait time via the app and a notification when their table was available (claim within 10 minutes).  More guest satisfaction, no more long lines, and good for bars, shops and casino.

Is it possible that line was the MTD that didn’t make reservations?

Agree, 3 Cruises this Fall and Early Main Dining one has 5, another 530 and 3rd at 6. 2 are on same Ship different weeks. Same with Late Dining, all different times. Happens to me at least 1-2 a yr week to week on B2B time changes...

Thank you for those that responded that late traditional dining moved from 8 to 730.

And thanks to all those rude responders. Yes, understand it's only 1/2 hour but didn't want MTD and I do expect that if I booked over a year ago I will get my first choice.  I don't care that it moved to 7:30.

And as far as the on board credit, yes, it got fixed.  Sorry, but I shouldn't have had to call to get it reinstated.

Not getting worked up.  I booked traditional 8 late dining over a year ago, so should not be waitlisted.  Not waiting on line for MTD.

You're complaining about a favorable resolution to your issue?  What do you really expect?

I expect it not to be an issue in the first place.  That's what I expect.

Whether one should “expect” it or not, Royal IT systems are a crapshoot and many issues that shouldn’t be, are. The inconvenience of having to call got one problem fixed.   You made the assumption that you were switched to MTD.  Based on your post, the phone rep merely stated that the late seating time had changed.

I'm not going to go back and forth but my post was about the rep not wanting to give me the obc even after i spoke to him not an IT glitch.
