Open every day, at sea or port.

This makes me happy!  We plan to stay on the ship in Costa Maya so knowing it’s an option is nice. However, it’s it’s nice out we probably be on the pool deck or at the spa. Will the poolside grill be open as well?

When you are at Ocean Cay, it is open on the island in the YC area, not on the ship.

I assume if the weather is poor it will be open?

If the ship doesn't stop at Ocean Cay, lunch will be in the regular YC dining room. If the ship stops at OC, the YC dining room staff all move to the OC restaurant, bringing the supplies from the ship to the island for the full lunch menu, and the YC dining room on the ship is closed.

I should also add that if OC is missed at the last minute -- say because of high winds that prevent docking -- the YC menu on the ship that day for lunch will be the "usual" OC lunch menu. This means that you will not miss out on the lobster roll and other great menu items that are usually exclusive to lunch at OC. Since the supplies are ready, they will use them on the ship and prepare the same menu. We missed OC on one sailing and found that the OC menu tasted just as good on the ship. 🙂

What if we dock but it's raining during lunch hours?

Interesting question. We've had it rain briefly while we were at the OC restaurant; lunch just continued through the rain in that case. We've not had the experience where it's actively raining as we dock in the morning. I guess it might be up to the YC Director at that point. If you are in the restaurant having breakfast and rain is in the forecast, you could ask them yourself of the plans for that day.

Poolside grill definitely open. They even will open a bit earlier if they know people want to go there to watch sail-in, for instance we had a 1:00 arrival in Nassau and I think they opened (maybe unofficially at 11:30 that day). I had a very late breakfast at the grill the day of OC and the staff were up there.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

You can count on the Top Sail Lounge being open, as well the One Deck Bar and buffet/grill.

The YC dining room will NOT open for lunch once succesfully docked, regardless of weather.  That'd be an organizational and personnel nightmare.

We recommend everyone try to have lunch at Ocean House, before it rains. It can get very crowded with only enough tables for 168 guests at one time if everyone shared a table. Lately the Yacht Club has been running full with 330 official paying guests. Then there are those with "ACCESS"; we had 44 of these friends and family of officers. And then those with friends and family of Yacht Club residing outside the YC. So it can get rather 'messy'. One might have to eat , bending over on their beach lounger, or wait for some fellow YCer to give up their table. Once it was cold and it poured. Everyone present tried to find standing space huddled inside Ocean House which only has 3 tables and the bar. Getting back to the ship waiting for one 7 passenger trolley, had the YC director commandeer a larger island trolley. It still took time to get back to the ship with not enough trolleys., at that time.

There are alternatives. One can opt to go back to the ship for lunch. One Pool Deck has a buffet set up. Hola Taco is open (no reservation needed on Ocean Cay day). There is room service and pizza delivery to cabin or One Pool Deck. We opt for the latter having experienced the former.
