Well my cruises for the balance through 2023-2024 is just Europe, UK, then Australia to Japan so I won't run into DCC until 2025. And yeah, charging someone an extra 10% to use an ATM isn't fair

Remember to not use your credit card at the ATM to get cash. Cash withdrawals using a credit card are considered a cash advance which will incur fees.

I'm an American living in Australia with a U.S. ATM card and credit cards.  I have never heard the term DCC before, but I can tell you that I am presented with a conversion rate that I can accept or decline every time I use them.  That sounds like DCC as Hlitner described it.

Wouldn't it be great if we (members) could set up an exchange swap for all those "extra"/left over currencies that we pick up for our cruises.

 

I guess that would be considered mail fraud or money laundering.

My daughter hit many, many, countries during her 30 day back packing trip through Europe.  She used her left over currency to pay down her hostel rates (then, I guess charged the rest?).
