Advice on Hawaii cruises

Looking at changing one of our cruises for next year to Hawaii on the Edge sailing 1st May 24. Sea days from 6th May until arrival at Vancouver on 11th May and we are wondering what the weather and sea conditions will be like that week as we head north. Am guessing the closer we get to Canada the chance of it being sunbathing weather quickly reduces and maybe the last 3 or 4 days would be indoors days.

It’s really hard to guess the weather close to Vancouver in May, as it has been all over the board the past few years with global warming.

it could be a really warm spring, but a good chance that it could be cool and rainy.

Thank you, that’s helpful. We really fancy that cruise so think we will probably take our chances and hope for a really warm spring!

We’ve done it twice.  Both ways.  The two days in and out of Vancouver were coolish and windy.

Thank you, so just day 9 and 10 then on the way to Vancouver?

We just did the recent May cruise Hawaii to Vancouver.  Loved it.  One somewhat rough day on way to Vancouver but to too bad.  Spend some time in Honolulu before the cruise.

We are planning to do that too, any tips on nice hotels there? We’d rather spend more and get somewhere nice, within reason! And overall was the weather good? Thanks for responding.

We were just on the Eclipse Honolulu to Vancouver cruise in May.  The pools were pretty busy the first two sea days (and we did have some rough seas one of those days).  And then it got cool and foggy and most people moved indoors.

Oh,, sure...like you know something about Vancouver...sheesh....🤣🤣🤣

All jesting aside, love your city a lot!!

To the OP:

I've experienced both heading towards Vancouver and was toward the end of May. Cool and windy once, shorts and beach top the other. Strongly suggest packing for both!

Thank you. All of your responses have convinced us, we were doing a European cruise on Equinox, it was booked for June, we will now be doing Hawaii instead. Cruising round Europe for us English has nowhere near the same appeal. Now faced with how to get from Leeds to Honolulu with the minimum of fuss but we know the effort will be worth it.

From Dewsbury now in Vancouver      consider flying to Vancouver and spend a few days here  Absolutely lovely city and worth a visit . Direct flights from London !

You left Dewsbury, I can’t understand why 😁. The cruise we are looking at sails from Honolulu so that wouldn’t be an option but thanks anyway. If only they did cruises to West Yorkshire 😂

Thanks for asking this question; we are also on this cruise!  Let us know if you need some OBC, as we have tons!  We also canceled a cruise...TP/b2b.  Join the roll call, although it is not busy.

Thank you - we’ve not booked yet - ringing our TA tomorrow to sort. We wouldn’t take your OBC, we are from West Yorkshire and proud, Davebarr will understand. But love that you offered.

We, too are on this cruise.  This will be our third time for this itinerary and I agree with others that the closer you get to Vancouver, the cooler it becomes.

Hopefully, it will be sunny so you can enjoy touring our city.

Yes, please join the roll call.

Aloha. In Honolulu we will do a staycation at the Halekulani. The Hilton is for tourists. The Westin Surfrider is right on Kalakaua Avenue the main Waikiki thoroughfare.  It is for tourists but dates back 100 years. Wherever you stay you can walk everywhere except for Pearl Harbor, the North Shore but the entire island is magical in my opinion. Enjoy!

Good morning.   We stayed at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort.  Loved it.  It’s actually not on Waikiki but on a small beach about a ten minute walk from the hotels on Waikiki Beach.  We had an Oceanview Club Room which included a terrific breakfast and Happy Hour ( enough for dinner).  It was pricy but we were celebrating our 50th anniversary.   Be sure to book a north shore tour.

My wife has her eye on the hilton with the rainbow, seen it on Hawaii 5 0 I think! I need to start saving up looking at the prices!!!

We have made the decision and are trying to book but our useless TA only does booking amendments by email so awaiting actual confirmation.

We were a short walk from the Hilton.  Husband had to have a drink at the at the bar featured on Hawaii 5-0!

Am sure we will too! And a selfie to send home. Going to be one amazing trip if our TA gets us booked on it.

If you get a chance, take a trip out to Kualoa Ranch. It has been used to film portions of many movies and tv shows (including Hawaii Five-O, Lost, Jumanji, Jurassic World, Jurassic Park, Godzilla, etc.) and the scenery is breathtaking.
