Never said it was. I don't agree with it. If you say so.

My best guess is that they have already determined that it will increase revenue.

They are doing an onboard test to see how well it is tolerated and how many complain.

I sent my first e-mail of complaint on July 4th about 3:45 PM Alaska Standard time.  I certainly didn't expect to receive an acknowledgment on a holiday but as of 1 PM AST I still didn't have a reply,  So at 1:07 PM I sent another complaint to the Executive Office indicating that I hadn't received any response.  Also sent one to the new CEO.  At 1:33 PM I had an acknowledgment of the complaint.

We are Zenith members of the loyalty program and all of our future reservations with Celebrity are booked in Suites.  Wonder why some folks are having very quick form letter responses while some of us, at least initially, did not.

It took me four days, but ultimately I got a phone call.  I'm thinking the canned responses go out quickly, but most of the phone calls are longer.  I'm also thinking in particular they do want to talk to Zenith and suite passengers and perhaps want to make sure they allow enough time for the conversation which is why it takes longer.  I was getting frustrated myself, but was quite satisfied with the way the phone call was handled.  Assuming you left a phone number, you may still receive a call.

Of course, that is exactly what the test is all about.  What else would it be?

If they change the policy to allow vaping the next test will be to allow smoking. I think they might have been discussing that and decided to see if they could get away with allowing vaping first.

Agree. I've said that also.

I would be very surprised if they conduct a test of cigarette smoking in the casino. I'm sure that at the end of the vaping test, there will be an announcement that Celebrity casinos are no longer smoke free.

Or they will do something equally as stupid by announcing the casino will have a vaping/smoking section. Celebrity casinos are going to be like RC casinos. Smoking lounges that at times allows gambling.

In 2015, we took a Royal Caribbean President's cruise on Allure. There was a very large contingent of CC members so the Meet and Mingle was held in the theater with Michael Bayley fielding questions for well over an hour. The very first question asked -- when will Royal make their casinos non smoking. Bayley's answer was the usual "corporate speak". "We hear you".  "We're looking into this issue". Blah, blah, blah. They say that they have enhanced the ventilation system and have set aside non-smoking sections but the casinos are still just floating ashtrays. Celebrity's will be exactly the same way.

Agree a bunch of blah, blah, blah. Enhanced ventilation. 🤣 That's why the stench is horrible in the casinos as well as adjacent  venues. 🙄 Also it's obviously that Laura Hodges Bethge is following in lock step with all that blah, blah, blah and pushing it on Celebrity.

Hmmm...  RCL ships have faulty fire panels and smoking.  Yet Celebrity wants to start this?  Do their ships also have the faulty fire panels?

Fire safety fears are delaying the launch of the world's newest luxury cruise liner, report says (msn.com)

What is a fire panel?  Some kind of circuit board?  Fire alarm?

Definitely.  The footage from the President's Cruise in Alaska shows she is not comfortable interacting with customers, mostly let Captain Kate do the interactions, and used her handlers to deflect being the center of attention.  The centerpiece of the PR video out was axe throwing where the crew became the (cheap) entertainment.  All this while the vaping experiment was underway, as was the redeployment of Captain Kate and cancelation of thousands of reservations.

I was thinking that at first but from the FT article it appears that the panels are some kind of insulation. The parent company of the manufactor is Corning Glass. So the question would be how big a job would it be to replace the panels installed on ships from 2020 to now.

Has she done any “coffee chats” with pax on a small scale?  Maybe she’s not good at the big stuff?  Yes I know, a problem for a CEO!

I guess there are comparatively so few of us "down under" that we don't rate a response from Celebrity.

I sent emails to three different addresses 5 days ago. While I had no expectation of receiving a phone call - that would cost money 🙄 no response, canned or otherwise has been forthcoming.

Maybe I'll write again. 🤔

We have a final payment date soon and several more cruises booked for 2024 and 2025, fortunately booked before the introduction of the new hefty non-refundable deposits.

If this harebrained, health threatening trial is put in place throughout their ships, we will also be voting with our feet and moving to a healthier cruise line.

Hi Baynanno1 - have you seen this news article regarding 6 recent NSW hospitalisations of young people due to vaping:  https://www.9news.com.au/national/vaping-sends-six-young-people-to-nsw-emergency-departments-in-eight-days/aba4cbe6-c6fe-4e96-b1cf-8a3ebd8f0154

Like you I also sent an email to the executive email group, it was only 1 day ago so it'll be interesting to see if I get a reply?  I've had four family members die of cancer related illnesses and don't want to have second hand smoke (whether it be cigarette or vaping) potentially affecting me.

Hope you sent the article on to X.

If you haven't done so already please make sure your emails contain at least 1 specific question that needs a response as that makes it harder for X to ignore it.

Unfortunately I saw this item 1 day after I'd sent my email, I did attach to my email an article from the Australian Lung Foundation outlining their concerns of vaping.  I did have questions for them, so hopefully they'll reply.  If they don't, I can send another with the news article attached.

Well done. The more facts they get the harder it will be for them to continue with this crazy proposal.
