LizzGo Posted August 12, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2023 We currently have a basic drinks package included on our upcoming cruise. I understand if you order something above basic ($10 or $11?) you sign for the difference. My question: are you required to sign for each and every drink regardless? I am asking bc we are considering upgrading to premium. I find signing to be a minor annoyance, but if we will be signing all the time anyway, maybe I won’t bother.
CHEZMARYLOU Posted August 12, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2023 If the price of your drink falls within the package limit then you do not have to sign for it.
Rare cruisestitch Posted August 12, 2023 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2023 As mum said when she saw this, if you don’t like signing for purchases, drink only the free beverages. Well anyway, you won’t sign anything if your drink is included in your package.
CNSfromHI Posted August 12, 2023 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2023 On our first cruise, we had the basic drink package. On the first full day, seated at the casino bar aboard the Silhouette, I must have ordered something "outside" of that package and the bartender printed a receipt that I had to sign. I was annoyed, to be honest, but that was the only time I had to do so. By the end of the first week, however, that same bartender was not only familiar with what my wife and I liked, but he didn't care if it was within the package limits. In fact, toward the end of the cruise, he was pouring drinks for my wife definitely "above" our package. (I stick to beer.) To answer your specific question, no, you won't need to sign for every drink, @LizzGo. Hope this helps, cjr
C4HCG Posted August 12, 2023 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2023 I would leave the ship at the next port if I was asked to sign for a drink - just not on 🤬

LizzGo Posted August 13, 2023 Author #8 Share Posted August 13, 2023 I was just curios bc we sailed with HAL, had upgraded, and still had to sign for every drink. I’m thinking this time we will just stick with the classic. My husband drinks beer and Capt Morgan, both in the classic. I drink wine and not seeing anything in the classic I would drink but I think in the long run the few dollars here and there for the upgrade will not amount to the $50 per day the upgrade would be. I also understand that wine by the bottle is discounted 15%. We may be more likely to do that if we haven’t already sprung for the upgraded package. DingoMom Posted August 14, 2023 #9 Share Posted August 14, 2023 And with respect to bottles of wine, if you don’t finish one, it can always be ‘saved’ until the next night or even moved to a different venue. (I don’t believe I have ever had ‘left over’ wine, but that is what X does!!)
