miched Posted September 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2023 MGM has a partnership with Celebrity. MGM has been hacked. It basically shut their casinos down. I don’t know what information they have access to but be careful about about giving any info to anyone. If you get any emails or calls don’t give any info as it is probably a scam. I have taken advantage of the partnership to get status on their loyalty program and was able to save a lot on parking, resorts fees, and also reduced room rates. I hope they don’t get a lot of my personal info that is required to apply for their Reward Program. . https://www.vox.com/technology/2023/9/15/23875113/mgm-hack-casino-vishing-cybersecurity-ransomware Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

They don’t ask for your social security number to join their loyalty program. They ask for a drivers license or other ID.
Rare NMTraveller Posted September 18, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2023 (edited) It was a social engineering attack. It happened to both Caesars and MGM and I am sure that it cost millions. Millions because their employees were either not properly trained or gave out information that allowed their computer systems to be compromised... Oceans Eleven? All of the big heists are occurring on the computer systems... Edited September 18, 2023 by NMTraveller

Reports are coming out from former employees saying the casinos are hacked all the time this the scope of these attacks has been the largest. It was recently publicly released that Caesars paid a massive partial ransom

And then it occurred to me - if you win a $1200 or more jackpot, they have to fill out a form which includes your social security number. I wonder if they then enter that number somewhere into their system? I hope not. It's been years since that's happened to me, but it has happened in the past.

Well I’ve never been lucky enough for them to have to tax my winnings, so I know they don’t have my SS number!

If you win enough or bet enough you get locked out until you provide it to the staff member; if the tables you just have to give it to the pitboss
