Plus to Premium Upgrade

We have the £50 (yes UK pounds) Plus package included for our January 2024 cruise (bought in May of this year). Is there an onboard option to upgrade this to the Premium package for the difference in the cost of the two packages? The only option that is presented in the Personalizer is to buy the Premium package at £60 per day. Thanks in advance for any information you can offer.

Others have confirmed that you can upgrade to Premier on board. It would probably save you a bit of money as they could be charging £20 a day sterling  before the cruise when you would be charged $20 a day on board.

Yes, you can purchase or upgrade either of the Cruise Packages aboard. it's clearly stated in the FAQs. It's the difference in price between the two packages to upgrade from Plus to Premier. On the app, at guest services or with any of the staff selling the packages and upgrades on embarkation day.

Happy sails.

If you have paid for the Princess insurance and buy the upgrade before you cruise the cost of the insurance will go up. If you wait and buy it the first day on the ship the cost of the insurance isn't affected.

Well there you go! One less thing to worry about (and be charged for!)

Not really because if one uses a third-party travel insurance provider, generally you are insuring the cost value of the trip and the cost of Plus/Premier would be included in that total.

Not normally in the UK. UK cruise insurance is not for a specific amount but up to an amount of, say, £5k. So it makes no difference whether the cruise costs £3k or £4k and it is totally irrelevant if you add something on later just as long as you do not exceed the upper limit.

But there aren't many, if any, cruise insurance companies that will allow no-reason cancellation. Yes, you can claim if someone dies or there are certain risks like missing your flight through no fault of your own, but just cancelling because you want to cancel is hardly ever covered in the UK.

Good thing you specified "...in the UK" as CFAR insurance is widely available here in North America. Princess's offering stands out as it gives 100% back as an FCC if, say, you elect to cancel because your cat fired off a particularly big hairball the day before sailing, but other insurers routinely offer up to 75-80% back
