Bently57 Posted September 20, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2023 (edited) I've searched the forum but haven't seen anything specifically addressing my issue, but maybe I am beating a dead horse and I just don't know it. As it stands now, and as I understand it, if you're in the same cabin under the same reservation, BOTH adults have to purchase the premium or classic drink package. I understand the logic for Celebrity on one hand, but it's also unfair on the other. I no longer drink, but if my partner wants the alcohol package, I MUST do the same. It just seems so wrong, and yet I don't know what the solution would be. We've decided that he just won't get the package. For the non alcoholic package, I think the only thing I would use it for would be coffee. I don't drink much soda. I still haven't figured out if we should just get the non-alcohol package. Or we could still go ahead and buy the alcohol package (both of us) and he could get whatever he wanted, but it's such a waste of money because I would only use it for coffee. Am I the only one in this predicament? It sure seems like it. It has kind of dampened my enthusiasm for this cruise. twoforone Posted September 20, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2023 I would suggest you just pay as you go for your beverages and forget about getting a drink package. Easy, peasy and you’ll probably come out ahead ($$). Enjoy every moment on your cruise.
Random Cruizer Posted September 20, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2023 Just pay for each drink as you go. You'll save money in the end, anyway. Drink packages are more for convenience than real savings in most cases, I think.
SbbquilterUT Posted September 20, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2023 We were able to change one to a non-alcoholic package on one cruise. We drink at most one pre-dinner drink so there is no need for us to buy any package. I know folks will tell me about water (I bring my refillable bottle) and coffee which I will still buy one each morning but the math still makes it better to buy per drink for us.
Rustyman Posted September 20, 2023 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2023 Wait until you’re onboard then just buy the one package, it’s commonly done.

I had read of someone doing that, but they also explained that it was done thru a server, and they kind of made them promise to keep it on the 'down low'. Of course you won't get the sale that is running right now, but it would at least resolve the main issue! I may try that. It can't hurt. Ex-Airbalancer Posted September 20, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2023 Why until you see how much partner is drinking a day then decide if it worth it

Tigerfnan23 Posted September 20, 2023 #9 Share Posted September 20, 2023 Drink package has become a bit of a rip off anyway so no way you should be paying for two of them for one drinker. Just go a la cart.
Rustyman Posted September 20, 2023 #10 Share Posted September 20, 2023 Also you can take 2 bottles of wine on when you embark. We took 2 on each last month and we’re waved through.
39august Posted September 20, 2023 #11 Share Posted September 20, 2023 It is now back to only 1 wine each on embarkation. In any case, I agree with others. Both of you just pay as you go.
deliver42 Posted September 20, 2023 #12 Share Posted September 20, 2023 I think all major cruise lines say you have to both have drink packages if in the same cabin. Too many cheaters before.
jagoffee Posted September 20, 2023 #13 Share Posted September 20, 2023 Buying a stand alone drink package is not much of a deal. Most alcoholic drink packages come as part of the AI. Did you book a Cruise only fare?
