Not a username2 Posted September 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2023 Hi there, Any recommendations for staying 1 night around Fort Lauderdale on a Saturday night? It all seems very expensive and wish I had of just booked the more expensive earlier Sunday flight.
CruisersTimesThree Posted September 23, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2023 You will find many recommendations if you look on the departure cities board. There is one specifically for info in Fla including hotels, restaurants, etc. Here is the link….. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/386-florida-departures/
ymncruise Posted September 23, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2023 Check the riverside hotel or renaissance marina.
Cap_D Posted September 23, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2023 Hyatt Centric on Las Olas has been terrific on multiple occasions. Clean, newer, good service at restaurant, walkable area for anything you may need.

rmedistro Posted September 23, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 23, 2023 Booking a flight for the same day as a cruise departure, is a recipe for disaster. Airlines have become increasingly worse for cancellations, and delays.

Rare bebe08 Posted September 23, 2023 #13 Share Posted September 23, 2023 We like to stay in Plantation which is only about 15 min cab ride away from FLL. Cheaper than staying right in FLL and lots of stores and restos in walking distance. Even with cab fare still works out cheaper. Some hotels in Plantation offer airport and cruise port shuttles. Esmerelda Posted September 23, 2023 #14 Share Posted September 23, 2023 Riverside hotel, great hotel, great restaurants, great location.☺️ Remember to always do your homework wherever you choose to stay. TripAdvisor is a great resource and try to read at least 10 reviews of any hotel you are interested in to get a general idea of people’s opinions. There are a few hotels in Fort Lauderdale that we would never return too because of bad experiences. Best of luck and have a great time!
Rare DaKahuna Posted September 23, 2023 #15 Share Posted September 23, 2023 With the exception of once time when we stayed at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach, we always have stayed at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port (on 17th). Very convenient and the hotel is always clean and comfortable.
billc23 Posted September 23, 2023 #16 Share Posted September 23, 2023 Riverside Hotel is great. Active, fun location on the East side of Rt. 1. I prefer the older section where they have a few suites right on Las Olas Blvd. My choice is based on location and I enjoy the area enough to come in a few days early. There is a water taxi right behind the Riverside Hotel where they have a hop on/hop off narrated ride that is fun if you want to learn some history and/or go to the beach, shopping, etc. However, if you just want a place to stay overnight there are many less expensive hotels but if you end up doing more than the room/pool you could easily use up the cost savings on travel expenses from your hotel.

GranysT Posted September 23, 2023 #18 Share Posted September 23, 2023 I second the vote for Hyatt Place. They have a shuttle to pier. $9.00 pp. We were just there and enjoyed the hotel. They have a pkg deal that includes hotel, airport pickup, and shuttle to the ship.If you have the pkg deal, there is no charge for shuttle to pier. However, the pkg deal doesn't include the return to airport. They charge extra to take you back. Go figure.

Lovely clean hotel on the Riverwalk, with plenty to see/do. We had been to FLL numerous times, always staying on 17th street. The last visit, we chose Riverside, and wondered why we hadn't done this before!
Cap_D Posted September 23, 2023 #21 Share Posted September 23, 2023 Agree re the food at the Riverside, but feel compelled to mention the rooms and the HVAC are dated. They work, and it's been clean on my stays. By analogy, the rooms are like S and M class Celebrity ships that have been maintained, but not revolutionized. Esmerelda Posted September 24, 2023 #22 Share Posted September 24, 2023 @Cap_D, we stayed in the newer wing when we have been there. The room are very nice and no HVAC issues. ☺️

Hi, For those of you that have stayed at Riverside Hotel, was there shuttle service to the port? If not, what mode of transportation did you take? TIA! capriccio Posted September 24, 2023 #24 Share Posted September 24, 2023 You've received some excellent recommendations without anyone knowing the date and your budget. Providing those would help narrow down your choices. You can also check out the Fort Lauderdale tourist website (www.visitlauderdale.com) for an extensive list of hotels in all of Broward County (including Dania Beach and Plantation mentioned in earlier posts).
