now the question is will the same apply to newly purchased cruisefirst certs.  I'm waiting for them to offer the $500 certs again.  I'll buy one to see if they show up with no expiry.  If they do, I'll load up

I'm happy to buy $500 certs only if they are 100% matched like the $250 ones.

How is that better value than a double up CruiseNext?

Not talking about double up.

If there is double up of CN that's good, but that doesn't happen all the time.  Sometimes when there's double up, it applies to both CN and CF, or mix of both.

Double up CruiseNext for inside/OV isn't always available.

On the other hand, CruiseFirst isn't available to us in the EU. So lucklity doublr up CN for all rooms comes around aften enough! 😄

No, it's not.  But it has come up every time I've wanted to use it.  I book far in advance, so it is highly unlikely that a time will come when I can't take advantage of it for a future cruise.  I bought 16 CNs last week and 14 are already applied as double ups to future bookings of inside cabins.

yes, so for you it's really the same.  I also book insides, but I usually book within final payment.  So for me, the CF works out because I know I'll be able to use the $500 on the inside rather than hoping the double up on any cabin will pop up

I try to balance the two for just this reason.  I book pretty far in advance so when CF/$500 are available, I make sure I've got at least two and I usually buy CN if/when the total is below 4.  $500 is the sweet spot for booking through the Casino so both of these methods work.

Where are you seeing a 4 year expiration?

The flyers onboard and at the CN desk. I'll see if I brought any of them back.

When I asked the rep about it, they said it was still what Miami was telling them, told them I no longer had an expiration online and they just deflected.

Bought 2 CN on my recent cruise, though they still tout the 4 year expiration. I already have 1 CN so here is hoping for a triple up that will work for me to use these up.

I just got off Viva’s Dec 15 cruise. The CN folks were promoting the no expiration date as if it were something special for that cruise. Regardless, they definitely no longer expire.

Just off the Sky and the people claimed no expiration dates.  All onboard paperwork showed otherwise.

Same on the Dawn. NCL tends to use up old flyers, etc before printing new stuff, as long as any new offers are better. So until they use up their existing printed materials, the promo materials will say good for 4 years.

true.

and that would be fine for promotional flyers... but a legally binding contract that they ask people to sign, knowing that the info contained therein is outdated?

the mind boggles at the stupidity.

oh, wait, it's NCL.

what contact needs to be signed for the cruise next?

the form you need to fill out is just an order form so they can bill your onboard account and that you agree to the charges being places on your onboard account. its kind of like signing a receipt

i've never purchased a cruise next certificate; i'm a cruise first kinda guy. that's just the way i roll..

but by signing that receipt or whatever you are agreeing to be bound by the cruise next terms, in which case the flyer does really matter, if that's the only piece of paper that sets forth the terms by which the program operates. whether the terms are printed on a formal signed contract, or you're just signing an order from that references the program and the terms, the net effect is the same.

You missed the part about better terms. I believe the actual terminology on the literature I just saw said something to the effect that you have 4 years to sail. Nothing wrong with adding time, no terms of any contract are violated by eliminating expiration dates.

no i understood that.

my cruise first expiration dates have disappeared, too. i fully understand.

i was merely pointing out that what is in the contract is what is legally binding. they can say there is no longer an expiration date, and that appears to be true,. but purchasers are agreeing to the terms in the outdated flyer that says four years. and if NCL wanted to, they could technically hold purchasers to that.
