Rare Steerpike58 Posted November 7, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2023 We're looking at a cruise on Viking Ocean next year and there are only 6 DV cabins left. 5075 (DV2) - close to stairs; 5025 (DV3) - close to stairs; 4035 (DV4) - close to lifts; 4002/4003 (DV5) - end of hallway, smack up against the ES1 Explorer Suites; and 4105 (DV5) - far from stairs and elevators, looks to be an OK location. Any comments on these rooms in general, and perhaps most specifically, thoughts on the 4002/4003 location? If this would be better in the Viking Ocean forum, please move it there. duquephart Posted November 9, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Is motion an issue? If so the lower and closer to midships the better. That makes 4035 the best bet although some may advise staying away from stairs/lifts.
AZ_Tim Posted November 9, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2023 We were in 5075 on one cruise and liked the location. As you said, it is close to the stairs & elevator, but we did not notice any noise from those areas. Of the others you listed I would favor 5025, 4035 and 4105 over 4002/4003. We were in 4009 on our most recent cruise, and it seemed like a long hike to anywhere from that far forward. We did not notice any difference in motion between 5075 and 4009. You might, however, if conditions were really rough. 2
Hobson1754 Posted November 9, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2023 We’ve stayed mid ship (5072 Port side) near stairs & lifts on deck 5 on both our Viking cruises & found there was no noise whatsoever.
CDR2001 Posted November 9, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2023 We have stayed near the forward stairs on 3 cruises, and that’s perfect for us. We like the quick elevator access and it’s fairly convenient to the launderette. I’d choose 4035, we’ve been in 4033 before.
Rare FetaCheese Posted November 9, 2023 #6 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Have been in 5076. Great central location, near stairs -- very quiet. Port side, so convenient to launderette. Good location to minimize motion. Elevators close by. Liked it enough from last cruise, so booked it for next. Different ships, yet the same.
Rare Peregrina651 Posted November 9, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Most importantly, regardless of the preferences shared above, none of these cabins is "to be avoided at all costs. The only one that might have an issue is 4035 and only if it is above the tenders. I've never figured out how far forward the tenders go.

We have never had an issue with noise from the lifts or stairs and that area is our preferred cabin location.
Frenchberet Posted November 9, 2023 #9 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Another vote for 4035. We’ve stayed in this cabin (or 4037) twice, good location, no noise.

I took a picture on a cruise of the side of the ship and then put the cabin numbers on it - I use it often to reference various rooms to choose. 7
Jammy Bun Posted November 10, 2023 #11 Share Posted November 10, 2023 We’ve done several Viking cruises and always choose to be near the lifts - no issues at all with noise, and it makes getting around the ship so easy.
SteelCity Cruiser Posted November 10, 2023 #12 Share Posted November 10, 2023 I vote with those recommending choosing a cabin closer to the elevators/stairs. We've been by them on 3 of our 4 cruises (on different deck levels) and like the easy access. No noise problems either.
mozfoz Posted November 11, 2023 #13 Share Posted November 11, 2023 I never found noise from the stairs to be an issue. Its not like a Disney cruise with children running around or late night drunks stumbling around. Probably more noise from motorized scooter in the halls. Rare PatriciaF Posted November 12, 2023 #14 Share Posted November 12, 2023 I personally would pick 5075--near the stairs and the left, a little aft of center.
Zippeedee Posted November 12, 2023 #15 Share Posted November 12, 2023 If you haven’t used it, cruisedeckplans.com has all of these details and more. I’m in 3045 on the Star right now. Near the forward elevators but close enough to the Atrium to make using either elevator easy.

Regarding the tenders - is the issue simply of of making sure they don't block the view, or is it that when they are used, they are noisy?

Noise - and they can possibly bang around on a stormy night as well.

They should add that to their list of what V does not have. No this, that etc.

Rare cruisewiscrrq Posted November 20, 2023 #21 Share Posted November 20, 2023 In 5071 for two week Viking Homelands, absolutely no problems of any kind. Loved it and would book again
