dcipjr Posted November 20, 2023 #151 Share Posted November 20, 2023 Have a great time, @mking8288! Hope we can coincide again on another cruise someday. Very interested to hear your thoughts on the Prima; we haven't sailed her yet but are intrigued by the polarized reactions to her that I've read.
Rare mking8288 Posted November 20, 2023 Author #152 Share Posted November 20, 2023 (edited) 2:15 PM, staterooms by deck or floors ready and by 2:30 PM all can ... Time to do a quick pictorial report on our midship balcony stateroom, around the corner by elevators & stairs, ideal location to us. The outside view ... good Balcony, very good compared to the *Away class ships, comfortable cushioned chairs with a recline 👌 Edited November 20, 2023 by mking8288 5
Rare mking8288 Posted November 20, 2023 Author #153 Share Posted November 20, 2023 (edited) Inside, everything seemed fine & working, clean lines & bright, smart design. Shower & toilet area are superior than older ships. Very good # of 110 and 220 outlets, plus USB-A and USB-C charging ports. Rockyhill Posted November 20, 2023 #154 Share Posted November 20, 2023 Henry, is that a balcony, family balcony or club balcony? Seems bigger than std balcony on other ships
Rare mking8288 Posted November 20, 2023 Author #155 Share Posted November 20, 2023 (edited) Tech/Geek's corner ... "Command" station setup and ready to serve as CC gossip central. LMDE Linux Mint notebook PC up & running. Airtags reaffirmed that luggages are onboard & not lost in transit. Packing fewer power extension cords & bring extra USB extension cables. Tom, that's just a run-of-the-mill standard balcony, Deck 9 midship as we are bringing her across the pond (Atlantic). It's bigger and most definitely very functional by careful design ... this, for 2 of us, with the loveseat sofa, means a club balcony really isn't necessary. The family balcony is the same, sofabed converts into a double/full bed.

Rare laudergayle Posted November 20, 2023 #158 Share Posted November 20, 2023 (edited) Try the forward “lifts” for faster service. There are more of them snd they take you right to the atrium. Edited November 20, 2023 by laudergayle
Rare Sugar Magnolia Posted November 20, 2023 #159 Share Posted November 20, 2023 Glad to hear Alvin is on the Prima. I might hop on if he is still there in a few months. What are your dinner plans? I had a leisurely breakfast this morning on the Viva at the gorgeous Hudson’s dining room. It has been a smooth sailing for us today on the second sea day. However, the satellite map shows some storms ahead. So many passengers and crew I know did not feel well during a rocky patch two nights ago. Wishing a smooth and enjoyable sailing to all on the Prima.

Haven't run into him yet but we recognized his distinctive voice, he's crossing the pond along with rest of us. Tonight, we'll check out the Hudson and tomorrow night, Commodore then ... Donna Summer The Musical is on Day 7 and Day 10, now - we can book. Got our chocolate strawberries ... petite Ship's navigational channel is on 1, bridge cam on ch.2 and both seemed working We are 45 minutes behind sailway, party on deck 17 is over ... Now, finally on the way, quietly & smoothly.

Treacher1 Posted November 20, 2023 #163 Share Posted November 20, 2023 Thank you SO much for posting all those pics and information on embarkation day and sail away. We are boarding Dec 1 in NYC for the reposition cruise and look forward to more pics and comments and advice as you make your way to NYC! Wishing you smooth sailing - great service and food - appreciate the time you are taking to do this!!! We made a bid on Haven - but not expecting anything. We were scheduled to sail March of 2025 and got an email from NCL saying that cruise from NYC was canceled. So when we booked this cruise there were no Havens left - so surprised we got a letter to bid??? Matters not - ship looks classy - and look forward to this cruise.
Rare bedfordmom Posted November 20, 2023 #164 Share Posted November 20, 2023 Bon Voyage. Looking forward to dinner. FYI on my recent Getaway, TA I never received my chocolate covered strawberries. By the time I was able to notify Cruise Next of the oversight it was third day and guess what I ended up receiving two within a couple of hours (unless one was for the club balcony)

Dinner was fine, good - accustomed to the size of the MDR on other NCL ships, suffice to say, we're surprised when we walked past the busy host/ess station with our reservation for 4, asked by one on whether we wish to share a table, which I calmly declined. Usual NCL Day 1 menu of shrimp cake, seafood gumbo soup, baby spinach salad, beef and broiled talipia, etc. Select Cagney's entrees with an upcharge. Service was reasonably fast as they are trying to tables around quickly.
Rare mking8288 Posted November 20, 2023 Author #167 Share Posted November 20, 2023 Mrs M commented that the Flow Water equivalent sources in EU seemed smaller again, she's probably correct - at 500 ml, whatever ... At least, we received 4 cartons - this September, we only received 2 and steward said, that's based on the delivery sheets, didn't want to waste time to stand in line for 30 minutes to ask for the perk, for my (in) convenience of course 😳😤😧 not a deal breaker We both agreed the strawberries are getting smaller & smaller, pretty soon ... will be none.
Rare mking8288 Posted November 20, 2023 Author #168 Share Posted November 20, 2023 The new Ship Nav Channel is #1 on the Prima, as reported previously - very basic info ... nice graphics but useless, except on our speed & heading, no ETA or basic marine weather data. Back to my own preferred apps for supplemental data while at sea 😧👴🤔

Rare mking8288 Posted November 21, 2023 Author #170 Share Posted November 21, 2023 Starlink is up & running, decent upload but download isn't faster than EMC before, both over WiFi 6 and 5 Mhz band, inTRAnet speed is fast - we are being throttled with bandwidth priorities allocated to ship ops, nav & safety, and crew use. Upgraded just past midnight so costs dropped by $30 to 10 days at $300, less $100 trade-in for the 150 FAS minutes - down to $200 before applying other NR OBC.

Rare Sailing12Away Posted November 21, 2023 #173 Share Posted November 21, 2023 Very jealous of your bathroom. I can see at least 2 shelves in there to put stuff on.... still bitter about my H4 room not having a single shelf at all.
