Heads up.......... all 4 Southern Ontario land borders / bridges closed.
Explosion investigation.

I expect this won't be over quickly and traffic on the QEW will be an absolute mess.
HWY 405 closed, QEW closing at some point before the Peace Bridge

Just heard that on our news.  Yikes.

Buffalo airport now closed to international flights. I wouldn't doubt domestic flights are being considered too.
If anyone was headed to cruise ports through Buffalo in the next couple days you may want to examine your options...........

I think Ambassador bridge in Detroit might be the next closest crossing?

CBSA have redirected truck traffic with paperwork for the Niagara bridges to the Lansdowne crossing. Their paperwork will be accepted there. They can also amend their paperwork to the Windsor-Detroit and Sarnia crossings.

I believe the border crossings have reopened.

 

CNN is reporting that the vehicle was a Bentley with older husband and wife headed to the KISS concert scheduled for tonight in Toronto. They apparently abruptly decided to turn around, perhaps upon hearing the concert was cancelled. Unfortunately it was done at speed, ignoring obstructions. Unknown at this time why vehicle caught fire and exploded.
