727am Captain is making an announcement the swell into the harbor (inside the port) is up to 35' making it too dangerous to get close to the north shore. Therefore today's stop in Maui is canceled.

They have been able to secure an early stop into Hilo and make it an overnight. However, due to other ships in port, we cannot get in until 230pm. Shoreside security does not work all night, so we have to be onboard by 10pm; it will reopen 7am.

We're coming out of the land shelter within the next hour and expect seas to get rougher after that.

FWIW, it appears they made decision to skip Maui several hours before they announced it (logically! ). My brother (back home on dry land) has been tracking our sailing and saw Hilo as our destination (on vessel finder) as of very early this morning California time.  He knew before I did!

Sounds right. Can you ask him to keep us updated on our status each AM so we know how to plan our days, 😆 🤣 lol.

Yes, pack the ginger or your med of choice, maybe even a variety in case 1st thing doesn't work, something else may.

GS will slso give you pills (no charge) if you do need something.  They recommend eating a green apple 🍏 along w/sea sick pills; DH didn't (on a previous cruise) but when he kept getting sick he tried it and felt better, so highly recommend keeping a couple in your cabin. You can get them from room service or grab from Lido.

When I saw how long the casino was going to be closed, I thought "oh, my" 🫣🙄 it has been strange walking through with it closed for so long. I wonder if they'll open it for a few hours today since port was canceled. 🤔

I don’t normally suffer but DD DH could get Mal de Mer.  He quickly avoided the Meclizine.  Made him sleepy, etc.  He liked Motion Ease (which is natural) and could be bought in the shops.  Sea bands also help your equilibrium & ginger is a life saver. I always had some for him.

It took years but he finally tried the green applies.  He felt so much better.  He couldn’t believe it.  Whether you like them or not, give it a shot.  they are on the room service menu and often out to take in rough seas.  There is a reason they are offered and neither they, Motion Ease, Sea Bands or ginger keep you from enjoying the libation of your choice 😉

The rhubarb tart was too "tart" but the raspberry mousse was awesome!

Different preferences. My wife and I thought the rhubarb tart just right. The French vanilla ice cream on top provided a contrasting sweetness.

I usually avoid strawberry-rhubarb dishes because they are invariably sweet. This was a pleasant surprise. It reminded my DW of her grandmother's "spring tonic" served in her youth.

We have the Have It All package. Is there a price limit on the drinks?

Quick answer yes. The signature beverage package (which is usually the one in HIA) is $11.00 max per drink and a total of 15 drinks a day (alcohol and non alcohol combined). The elite package that is sometimes part of an enhanced HIA has a per drink limit of $15.00 and the limit is 15 alcoholic drinks

and unlimited soft drinks including specialty coffees.

Apparently there have been some recent price increases on beverages that take them over the current HIA price cap. There has been some speculation that the price cap will be raised to cover the drinks that were under the cap but aren't now.

Just wondering as someone on fb said they could post on FB but couldn’t get emails.

Accessing email seems to be fine; however, it could be a security setting preventing them from accessing on an unsecured network.

Thanks.  We didn’t have issues in November on our cruise so hoping none on our long one in February.
