solo, 1 carry on and 1 backpack

FLL To New Orleans:

10:16am flgiht from Jetblue out of FLL. ($154)

Next one out is 5pm on Southwest from Miami ($156).

Then 6:42pm on American Airlines (Miami) $94

Think I can make the 10am if i'm one of the first off the ship then uber to the airport?

Which ship???   The larger Oasis class ships tend to get people off much quicker than the smaller ships

I don't think you will have a problem if

  • Ship starts disembarkation by 7:30
  • You can carry all your luggage off
  • You are at the front of the self disembarkation line (the length of which can vary from cruise to cruise)
  • You catch a taxi (don't bother to call and wait for Uber/Lyft)
  • You don't check luggage
  • You have TSA Precheck

I still would have a Plan B just because in this day and age of plane travel it is probably wise to always have a Plan B!

catch a taxi instead of uber? Never thought of that. is it a flat fare to FLL?

I don't have tsa precheck but i dont imagine much of a line at security at 8am.

Just off the Silhouette prior to Christmas. Self Assist line veeeery long. Folks queuing up just after 6 a.m. Facial Recognition system at Immigration very fast. Lots of taxis. Fare to FLL, with tip, $20. Road traffic at FLL was heavy and slow. Precheck TSA line non existent but regular lines, at 10.30 a.m., quite long but not unmanageable. 10 a.m. flight’s gonna be a real nail biter. FLL’s not the most convenient airport for a long wait. Good luck…

What time did you line up and what time did you get off the ship?

What time did you arrive at FLL?

Fort Lauderdale airport has some issues over the last year on TSA staffing. They seem to be perpetually under staffed.  A lot depends on which outbound terminal you are using.

Back in December there was a lot of unhappiness about TSA staff being forced to work without pay due to the anticipated government shutdown.

By 6.45 a.m., the ship was along side and cleared shortly there after. We decided, because of the long self assist line on the previous B2B cruise, to have our luggage taken off. Called to leave the ship about 8 a.m. Immigration was a breeze. Into a taxi and arrived at FLL, even with the airport traffic, at 8.40-ish.

We were on  Beyond late November.  Group of 14, we all did self-disembark.  Ship was very delayed clearing so disembarkation didn't start until about 8:30.  A couple in our group had booked an Uber, but missed it, were unable to cancel due to wi-fi issues, so ended up paying.  Our mini-group of four got a cab immediately and were at FLL through security and at our gate by about 9:20 a.m.  We all had TSA pre check but frankly the lines weren't clearly marked.  Our flight was at 11:00 and going to Canada.  We were fine but I wouldn't have wanted to have been on a 10:00 flight.  No reason was given for the slow clearance just hundreds of people lined up on deck for more than an hour waiting.

And you are in the Passport line, not the birth certificate line
