Love your pictures Sid, We were in San Juan one year ago and loved it.  We didn't see half of what you have done so far there.  We couldn't take the humidity. So really enjoy seeing it through your pictures.

You (we) are seeing some really cool places. That garden (park?) with the long, skinny fountain is pretty.

Sid where about is that, been to OSJ many times, never came across it?

I wanted to find one of those cool spiked masks for my collection, so I stopped by several souvenir shops, including the one where I bought one twice before, but no luck... I just kept making my way through the streets back towards the ship...

I wanted to try and get something local to eat, so I stopped by this tiny place called Birra and Empanada for one chicken and one beef empanada. It's for sure small and rustic, and the bathroom there was definitely one of the more interesting. And by interesting I mean it was so small that I could barely fit in there without touching both walls, and I weigh all of 150 lbs soaking wet...

Birra and Empanada is on my list to do when we sail out of San Juan next month. We’re spending 3 days in OSJ prior to our embarkation. Definitely want local food.

It looks like there's some kind of festival happening here, as they were setting up stages and whatnot. There were also porta John's lining the streets in every direction... Maybe it's porta potty fest?

Starting Friday is the San Sebastion festival with tens of thousands expected to attend. I only know this because we are flying in Friday and sailing from there on Saturday. We were trying to figure out why it cost a fortune for one night at a hotel in the area. Enjoying your review.

The Restroom at Birra & Empanada make those Porta Potties look absolutely spacious! 🙂

I went back into Old San Juan again for the second time today with a different goal... First, to visit it's original dive bar, El Batey, where Hunter S Thompson used to hang out in the late 60's and early 70's... It was on my list and map for earlier, but they don't open till 3:00... There's a cat who lives there, who's famous in his own right...PXL_20240117_192843224.thumb.jpg.f9448718cb01bb70cfea4aeaf8844d53.jpg

If you look up the term "dive bar" in the dictionary, then the El Batey is probably the definition... Graffiti, grunge, ect... I ordered the local rum with a few ice cubes...

I haven't heard any announcements this morning, I don't know if people are getting off the ship already or not... I'm showered off and ready to roll whenever, not that I have any specific plans...

I like that inside cabin set up.  If you aren’t comfortable saying the cabin # can you do after you are home please.  We had fwd balconies which I enjoyed but I like inside cabins.
