Priority Luggage Tags in Club Balcony Suite

Recommended Posts

Just received priority luggage tags in the mail for our Panama Canal cruise on the Encore, April 7. We are staying in a club balcony suite. Never received this before, in fact, we’ve stayed in the Haven many times and I believe only received them pre cruise once or twice. Is this something new. We have Diamond status.

No. They only send them out to CBS on exception. We always sail in CBS or Haven rooms and only get tags for the Haven sailings. We have an upcoming CBS in a few weeks and did not get any priority tags. We already printed out tags from our eDocs. (We're diamond also)

I've gotten "priority luggage tags" when booked in steerage.  Don't believe anybody who tells you that they are anything special or that they are only sent out to "special" people.  They are not.

You'll always be special to us.

On the Bliss last week, we had purchased “Priority Access.”  We were given priority baggage tags for disembarkation.  We met in the Maltings bar and were escorted off the ship ahead of all but Haven.  Our priority baggage was waiting for us ashore while all other baggage was in the process of sorting.

I wasn’t inferring that we were special, Since we had never received them before, we were just wondering if this is something new. It does however remind me of a conversation I had with a guest services rep some time ago. We were relatively new to cruising and were intrigued by this place on the ship called the Haven. I naively asked if it would be possible to tour the Haven facilities. The rep looked at me and responded “ oh, that is not possible, the Haven is not for ordinary people”.

That's great, but this tread is about luggage tags used for embarkation.

I'll be by your side, if you're on deck 10 starboard. No tags for us. No one knows how this game works.

Interesting.  I know that in the past, NCL would sometimes send priority tags to VIPs staying outside of the Haven.  The tags still had the guests' names and room number preprinted.  I think they were basically identical to the Haven tags. Typically, a letter is sent with those tag sheets, but I'm unsure if that would provide any additional insights.

From observation, it would seem that priority disembarkation with the gold tags is far more common than receiving the preprinted priority embarkation tags, or maybe it just appears that way when searching for our luggage!  I assume that there is a much more significant expense involved in producing the embarking tags because of the preprinted information.

I've gotten these, as you described, three or four times, several when I was booked in absolute lowest level of steerage (i.e. inside cabin😪).  Are you suggesting that I was a VIP and didn't even know it?  Yippee!

At least according to NCL, yes, I would say that is the case.  If you get preprinted tags that say "priority" on them, someone somewhere has to mark your reservation down as a VIP.  It can be based on a lot more than just being in the Haven or a suite.

I print and laminate my own luggage tags based on the eDocs, and add whatever I want. For my next cruise, I'm weighing several options:

PRIORITY

VIP

I'M SPECIAL

GRAND POOBAH

I'm always open to new suggestions.

🤣Well, to each their own... I once saw a family arriving at the port with the gold priority disembarkation tags on their luggage, and the porter was having quite a time removing them to put his tags on.  I'm not entirely sure what the story was in that situation, but I have seen the gold luggage tags for sale on eBay.

We always cruise in a balcony room.. its kinda weird as we just got priority bag tags for our sailing at the end of april on the bliss. We never have gotten tags in the mail before. In fact, we are going on the prima in a few days, balcony room and no priority bag tags.. makes 0 sense.

Your experience only demonstrates how unimportant priority bag tags are.
