MisterMatthew Posted March 28 #1 Share Posted March 28 I am sorry if this is a silly question. I am contemplating booking a cruise soon. (Also, nice to see all of you again -- I have been lurking, but not posting so much) If I book with HAL, or book with a T.A. does that make any difference in earning "stars" with HAL? ---MisterMatthew

Bonus (1 point per day if you are in a suite) HAL's web site has a good explanation on it web site. Below is a PDF of what you get for each star. Rare rafinmd Posted March 28 #4 Share Posted March 28 (edited) No such thing as a stupid question. Only thing that's stupid is not asking and making a mistake. Have a great cruise. Roy Edited March 28 by rafinmd

SeaMatesNYC Posted March 28 #6 Share Posted March 28 12 hours ago, Dutchman48 said: 2.On Board Spending ( 1 point per day for each $300 spent on board) Emphasis on "1 point per day." I.e, if you spent more than $2,100 onboard for a 7 day cruise, you would max out at 7 points; 1 per day.
YourWorldWithBill Posted March 28 #7 Share Posted March 28 On other boards it has been pointed out that if you purchased the HIA package, you get the amount per day that the number of drinks on the package cover. So if your package is for 15 drinks, even thought you might not have that many drinks, you still get credit. For me, that explained how I earned the points I did on my last couple of cruises.

Where is your next cruise? ~Nancy Thank you, Nancy. I am considering a sailing to Mexico again. I am debating on going on HAL, RCL, or a line that sails out of S.D. (or, possibly San Pedro, CA.). But, I am running into some difficulty with RCL at the moment. Going to post on the RCL boards, shortly. I would not want to cross contaminate the message boards, lol. I am having some problems with taking the plunge with finalizing a booking. Sigh. Triple sigh. ----MisterMatthew
oaktreerb Posted April 7 #12 Share Posted April 7 HAL has a series of Mexican Riviera, Pacific Coast, and Hawaii/South Pacific cruising out of San Diego primarily on the Koningsdam in the late Fall through the Winter before repositioning to Alaska. The other cruise lines may stop in SD but very few cruise-line itineraries begin and end in SD.
MisterMatthew Posted April 7 Author #13 Share Posted April 7 Oaktreeb, yes indeed. I have been eyeing those as well... and, I have seen that HAL has a couple that include Manzanillo. A port that I've never gone to. I must say I am EAGER to sail again. And, the possibility of having a 3rd (have two now) HAL ship under my belt is intriguing. I have been on the Euro, and the Zuidy so far. ----MisterMatthew

There are a couple of really interesting tours at that port. HAL does a good job with the Mexico cruises. I'm looking at another one right now.
Zippercat Posted April 9 #15 Share Posted April 9 We’re taking our first Alaska CruiseTour in June. Do the land tour days count for Mariner status, or is it just the days onboard? Thanks!
Rare POA1 Posted April 9 #16 Share Posted April 9 One note - If you are in a suite category, you get double points only if you a suite is what you booked originally. If you get a discounted or free upgrade into a suite, you don't get the suite bonus days.

Mariner Society Amenities.pdf 498.66 kB · 51 downloads I also have Mariner cruise days & bonus cruise days questions… 1) Do both mariners in a cabin on the same booking each earn the total number of cruise days and bonus cruise days OR are they divided in half between each mariner account? 2) The site says “The maximum bonus days is equal to the length of your cruise.” But, can you accumulate more than 7 bonus days on a 7 day cruise by booking a suite AND by spending more than $300 on board? 3) What counts towards on board spending? Do pre-booked excursions or pre-purchased premium internet plans count towards on-board spending, or do they need to be purchased on-board in order to count? Do daily gratuities count towards on-board spending? Thanks!

Do daily gratuities count towards on-board spending? The first two passengers in a cabin earn the same maximum points. Additional pax earn just the sailing days (and maybe HIA $ points?). The site should say "the spending bonus days are limited to one per sailing day". If you are also in a published-rate suite you can earn up to 3x sailing days. Pre-booked purchases do count. I'm pretty sure deducted crew appreciation counts. And having a beverage package or HIA counts as if you bought 15 drinks at the max price of the plan, essentially maxing out your spending just on beverages! Or at least it used to... We did come up two points shy of max on a 16-day B2B despite having HIA. 2

I think I understand … meaning that you can only get a total of 7 bonus days based exclusively on your on board spending? 12 minutes ago, crystalspin said: Pre-booked purchases do count. I am happy to see this. We have spent a lot of $$ booking HAL excursions through our PCC for our upcoming Alaska cruise. If we pre-booked $2100 in excursions can we expect to receive 7 bonus cruise days based on our spending? 17 minutes ago, crystalspin said: The first two passengers in a cabin earn the same maximum points. So, would my husband and I each earn 7 bonus cruise days based on spending $2,100 in total between us? In addition to each earning 14 cruise days (7 bonus cruise days plus 7 cruise days) for staying 7 nights in a Vista Suite? Thanks again.
