View of the Orange party at Lido pool. The roof was mostly open and the atmosphere was raucus.  There was so, so much food being offered.

I will do the 'housekeeping' of menus etc later, but we had a great day touring part of Tenerife arranged by @sailingdutchy Tony .  We had a great day, a fine lunch and wonderful conversation.  The guide whom Tony picked was absolutely top class. We visited Icod de los vinos and Garachico along the north coast. Our guide selected various plates for our lunch which we all shared, including bean soup, grilled cheese with sauces, berenjenas con miel ( deep fried sliced egg plant drizzled in local palm honey), and goat stew with canarias potatoes.

The onboard entertainment tonight was a Flamenco group, who gave an above average, though unatmospheric, performance.  Flamenco is not local to las Canarias but the tourists expect it!

We have a late sailaway tonight at 11pm for the short trip to Gran Canaria.

Would you or sailingdutchy be willing to share the name of the company/guide you used. Sounds like our kinda tour.

Also, thanks for the daily reports!

I have fond memories of the "pub crawl" events that were discontinued years ago. I hope the "bar hop" is similar.

From the descriptions, it sounds like the same kind of event! Crawl....Hop......I guess it depends on how many drinks one has!!!  😁

Your Orange Party snacks look to be much more extensive than we had in the Caribbean. I like the pool as a venue as opposed to BB King.

Catching up on today, Sunday 28th April in Arrecife, Lanzarote

Here is where NSDM was docked

approx 5 kms (3.5 mls) from town centre.

a free shuttle was offered supposedly to centre, but it was a good distance from the centre (about 1km) but close to tourist office and restaurants/cafes on the front.

Being Sunday there was very  little retail open, but we walked up to the shopping centre which had the usual range of stores (Zara, Primark, Primor cosmetics, Jysk, a supermarket etc) all open.

we took a taxi from the stoes back to the ship for €9 (nine euro).

@VMax1700  do you know if pax can purchase the airport transfer on the ship, not the tour plus transfer but simply the transfer.  I have a large OBC on an upcoming voyage and was hoping to use it for the transfer.  Thanks for your input and thanks for the detailed report.

Pool venue has so much more party atmosphere.  Under the big screen was dance area and they had put in the 'high pedestal tables' that are used for Captain's reception etc around the rest ot the pool area. Jose, the entertainments host, was giving it max volume and max encouragement, but no one needed encouraging. It was the best Orange party I have experienced so far.

@VMax1700 I also am so happy to see the enhanced regional foods in both the Lido and MDR!  The party by the pool looks so great and fresh air to breath while dancing!  (Weather permitting of course) There have been reports on other ships about classical music and additional music added in the World Stage too!

It sounds like HAL is listening and adding what many cruisers have been missing since the restart after covid.  I'm feeling good about this!

I really hope that guests that are pleased with the new/improved food and entertainment offerings are giving lots of positive reinforcement to HAL via "Tell Us" on the Navigator app and post cruise surveys!  🙂

Thanks for sharing all the good stuff happening on board!
