julig22 Posted April 25 #5 Share Posted April 25 3% charge for money charged to your account in the casino. Posted as a travel expense, so rebates may cover some or all of that expense.
MohrPfun Posted April 25 #6 Share Posted April 25 Ha! 3 very different location and/or amounts, so very cruise critic, love it! Short answer=yes.
Rare KeithJenner Posted April 25 #7 Share Posted April 25 It will almost certainly be cheaper to get it at an ATM on shore if you can, 2

davencl Posted April 25 #9 Share Posted April 25 (edited) The last 3 NCL cruises I've been on cash was available from the ATM in the casino, nowhere else. Charge was $6.99 flat fee. No percentage charge. If you're withdrawing using a credit card expect your bank to charge a hefty fee. In my case I used debit card and my bank(USAA) refunded the fee. So cost me nothing. Expect an ATM on shore to also charge a fee, although the fee may be less. Edited April 25 by davencl
Rare graphicguy Posted April 25 #10 Share Posted April 25 Personally, I'd bring the cash with you. Last NCL cruise I had, I needed to break a $100 bill at Customer Service. It was a hassle, not sure why. Then, I heard Customer Service would no longer be "changing" currency any more. Don't know if that means changing foreign currency, or just all currency in general. The times I went to the ATM it was out of service. Anyway, my next cruise I'm bringing all the cash I'll need along with all denominations (except for coins) I might use. Rare schmoopie17 Posted April 25 #11 Share Posted April 25 ATM also acts as a change dispenser. Last cruise pretty much all I had were twenties. I wanted small bills for incidentals/tips and the ATM broke a couple of twenties...no charge.

I don't believe that the intended use of the money has any bearing on whether or not you can get it onboard.

Since I use the NCL card that gives back 3% on NCL purchases, ultimately there is no actual charge - although I use the points for upgrades so I get back way more in that case. 4 hours ago, RocketMan275 said: even cheaper to bring the cash from home. Not always. The points I get by using my NCL card make getting cash in the casino at least a wash, but I can usually use $300 worth of points to upgrade to a balcony, an upgrade sometimes worth over $2K. If the card you use onboard gives travel points, you might also be able to score there. NCL purchases are considered travel, it pays to check the terms of your card. Note- I pay off my credit card monthly so I'm not paying interest. If you carry a balance on your card then you'd be paying interest so it's probably not the best deal to charge cash to your onboard account.

Do I go to the cashier and ask them to charge my room and they give me cash?

It's my favorite game in the casino. No matter how many dollars I pump in, I always break even.😎

Go to one of the slots, tap your card and request cash on your account. Then move the cash you want to the machine. From there, you can play the machine or just cash out and take the slip to the cashier. I don't think you can just ask the cashier for cash, but I've never tried.

I don't go to the casino so I was unaware there were bill breakers in there. Be careful, my brother married one.
