Rare colesc15 Posted May 9 #1 Share Posted May 9 Hi all. Considering our first virgin cruise. If I book one, and do the status match after the fact using our royal caribbean status, will the status match still work and I'd get the perks for that already booked cruise, or do I have to do the match before booking? Thanks.
CanadianCruiser21 Posted May 10 #2 Share Posted May 10 (edited) You can do status match after booking, and it will apply, as long as it’s a few weeks prior. Edited May 10 by CanadianCruiser21
Rare cantgetin Posted May 11 #3 Share Posted May 11 The DBE status match ended 12/31/2023, then popped up again for a short time. You can apply after you make your booking and it will take a week or less to process provided it is being offered at the time you sign up. Like most things Virgin, the rules can change at a moment's notice. If you do sign up, sign up for each member of your party. The benefits are per person, not per cabin.
Rare Essiesmom Posted May 13 #4 Share Posted May 13 (edited) Where does one find a link to the status match? I bit the bullet and booked on Valiant Lady for July…. EM Edited May 13 by Essiesmom
Xandar Posted May 13 #5 Share Posted May 13 (edited) I hope this link works.... Status Matching However, when we submit the form it just keeps twirling. If anyone gets it to work, please let us know. Edited May 13 by Xandar
Rare Essiesmom Posted May 13 #6 Share Posted May 13 I just tried it and got an immediate reply that it went through. Now to wait and see if it is approved. EM
Rare little britain Posted May 16 #7 Share Posted May 16 I’ve matched to DBE but I don’t seem to have a membership number?? It also says my DBE match is good for 2024. Does that mean if I book another VV cruise in 2025 I won’t get DBE??
Rare Essiesmom Posted May 16 #8 Share Posted May 16 I was wondering about a membership number also. EM
Rare cantgetin Posted May 18 #9 Share Posted May 18 There is no membership number as far as I can tell. We've had DBE on all our VV cruises, including the most recent under the new benefits program, and never had a "number" attached in the way other lines do. The current program says it lasts thru 2025. No one knows what will happen after that. I saved my confirmation letter and have that available on line at the ports....only needed it once when they showed my cruise partner had DBE but didn't list me. Got it fixed with the letter. Note that the new benefits are per person, not per cabin....so sign up each person in your group who qualifies.

Your membership number is your sailor id which is usually prominently displayed on your booking confirmation from Virgin. If you status matched to DBE before Dec. 31, 2023, then you will have the DBE benefits on any sailings through December 31, 2025. Anyone status matching now will get the lower tier Blue benefits. You should be able to see the DBEs if you have them if you go into your Virgin booking using your account on the web. SM Cruiser Posted July 6 #12 Share Posted July 6 (edited) It's not really a "Status Match" as it gives very limited benefits on Blue Extra, ( a cup of coffee per day and 1 bag of washing, neither of which I will use) nothing like the benefits I receive on Celebrity 😞 I received an email saying I was eligible for DBE (my first time with Virgin) but my booking says Blue Extra only. If you still have the email, I'd call your TA if you used one. If you booked directly with Virgin, I'd avoid calling, and email them instead. That way you can forward the email to them indicating that you were promised DBE. sailorservices@virginvoyages.com

Obviously we don't know when you requested the match and would need to research which match was in effect at that time. BUT if you have the email that says you get DBE, I would contact them. They will either give you DBE or admit their mistake. They never claimed to "match" that package that other cruise lines gave for any given level...but to "match" by placing you in their loyalty program. I used the top tier on another cruise line, and the DBE that I got thru VV was better than the benefits that other line was giving me. Other line used to have good benefits, but they had decreased over time. My logic is that we have spent thousands of dollars gaining loyalty status on other lines. Anything that VV was giving us on our first cruises with them was indeed a great benefit. If you don't drink premium coffee, you can choose premium tea or hot chocolate. You can use your benefit to treat a crew member who is waiting in line (they pay full price if they get it in guest areas, but may not have time while on break to run back to crew area where it is cheaper). Or you can just not use it. Your choice. That huge bag of laundry is a great benefit on a 14 or 15 night cruise, not worth much on a 3 or 4 night. I agree that Blue Extras is not much.....but again, it is something. 3

Tatra603 Posted July 10 #16 Share Posted July 10 I just applied for a status match for me and my wife. Does anyone know how long it takes to be approved? I have received nothing from VV, not even an email acknowledgement.
Rare cantgetin Posted July 10 #17 Share Posted July 10 Their web site says 7 days. THe first time, I applied for each of us at the same time. My daughter's came thru in a few days, mine never did. I re-applied and got mine within a few days. If you don't hear in a week either contact them or re-apply

doconner Posted July 19 #19 Share Posted July 19 Just adding two data points: I submitted my status match request this past Sunday and it was approved on Wednesday afternoon (3 days later). My partner submitted his status match request on Thursday morning and was approved on Friday afternoon (the next day).

If it is not there, and you used a TA, ask them to nag for you.
CaptMikey Posted August 9 #21 Share Posted August 9 Received email yesterday after applying about a week ago. Email stated that Verification Proof was missing from Application. ( For some reason it must not have uploaded correctly) "Please reply and attach proof to this email or call for more help" Attached proof to email, sent and received a reply within a Hour with our confirmation of matching. That was quick! It shows on Add Ons under our Cruise. 🙂
