Lobster Lobster Lobster That is great news! I’m on the Getaway in Sept. and I don’t eat red meat, so I wanted two lobster tails, instead of the filet. Lobster Lobster Lobster It's amazing how a rumor gets tarted and takes on a life of its own. Lobsters being limited in the Haven (apparently not true). No more cookies (again, from recent reports, simply not true). Thanks for the update! Not a Lobster guy, but those who are will be pleased. No more cookies (again, from recent reports, simply not true). geez, i dunno. regarding lobsters... have you considered that it was true, but the policy didn't fly (like the ban on hand held fans) and so NCL has reversed course? NCL does selectively listen to customer feedback and take course correction. most recently, they announced a slew of changes to the casino program, players balked, and they reversed some (not all) of those changes. we have had many credible reports of lobster tails being limited to one in the haven. we now have one credible report of that no longer being the case. i hope that's so. with regard to cookies, there are many credible reports, including my own, of cookies disappearing from many of the usual places, with cookies only available in limited supply in one or two locations, or by special arrangement/request with an executive. some have reported they confirmed this new cookie strategy by speaking with food and beverage execs... recently. i don't consider the limited lobster in the haven story or the cookie disappearance story to be a rumor. i believe them both to be true.
Rare graphicguy Posted May 13 #5 Share Posted May 13 If NCL's lobster provider were "short" on lobsters, yeah, I can see limiting them (which is in my opinion, probably what happened). But, as it was painted, as an NCL policy, on every ship? I found it rather questionable. Same with cookies. I suspect there was some sort of ingredient they couldn't get their hands on for a little while, and that caused cookies to not be as widely available as someone thought they'd be. But, as we've since seen, there are cookies readily available now. I do think some staff may offer up excuses that may or may not be true. It makes their job a bit easier if they can pawn off unavailability as a "corporate decision" (something I never believed to begin with) rather than try to explain their pastry chef(s) couldn't keep up demand for deserts. The reports weren’t that there was a shortage, but that there was a $25 up-charge for more than one. Hopefully, that is no longer the case. complawyer Posted May 13 #8 Share Posted May 13 i think that's great, but realistically, how many lobsters can you eat in one sitting? by the way, we got off the star on april 27th and we had a butler that brought all types of cookies to the cabin every day. , chocolate chip ,oatmeal raisin, macadamia, chocolate. so cookies are still around

Lobster Lobster Lobster @Pappy1258 Your post emphasizes that not every post on a subject is 100% accurate. Only those folks that actually have just been on the cruise. Also, thinks can change quickly so what might have been the case a few months ago, NCL could have changed it when they heard the guest feedback. Whether lobster or a specific champagne available, a recent guest like yourself really helps this and all brand boards. Thank you for taking the time to post and clarify. Cruise well and enjoy every moment.
Rare graphicguy Posted May 13 #10 Share Posted May 13 @Sthrngary...good point. NCL seems to be reacting in real time to feedback. I don't know if it's the feedback from CC (although it kind of seems so), which mean they're monitoring these threads. Or, they are reacting to the feedback on board. Either way, it's good to see they are atune to the guests. That's a rarity these days on cruise lines.
Rare cruiseny4life Posted May 13 #11 Share Posted May 13 I'm glad NCL listened and took away the lobster surcharge. Even though I've never ordered more than one lobster in a sitting (well, maybe once I ordered two). Not exactly a good look for a "luxury" experience in the Haven. It certainly wasn't rumor. It was in plain black and white, well gold and white on the Haven menu...for the short time it lasted: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=1733509&key=3bbcd4cc2b0cdd0b9a94737c5ad37d7c Cookies, well the jury is still out, but hey @graphicguy, sounds like you're going to hunt down the truth even if it leads you directly to Dirty Harry Sommers! I'd not call this a rumor either as I do tend to believe most posters on these boards. I know others take less stock, but I'm an "assume the best" kind of guy. 1
UKstages Posted May 13 #12 Share Posted May 13 i don't really eat cookies, maybe three or four a year, so i honestly don't really care about the great cookie catastrophe of 2024... but we are still hearing reports of no or few cookies from folks writing in this forum as recently as last week. so, geez, i dunno. i'll be on the joy soon and will suss out the sitch to the best of my abilities. but when i was on the getaway just a couple of months ago, i noticed that cookies were generally unavailable. Nilbog Posted May 13 #14 Share Posted May 13 I can confirm that at least on some ships the upcharge for lobster has gone away. Just off the Breakaway Haven yesterday and one night I had three tails and a baked potato and my wife had two tails and a baked potato. Not even a menu item, but we got 'em anyway, and without an upcharge.

ChiCruzr Posted May 13 #17 Share Posted May 13 (edited) I personally don't get why people post rumors as if they were facts. The lobster situation was true, at least for a while, because people posted photos of the Haven menu stating the extra charge. The Cookie situation was a whole 'nother thing. Someone posted that "cookies are no longer available on NCL", "according to a crew member." Within a day or two, others posted photographic evidence of cookies being available, in areas both restricted and public. There's further confirmation in this very thread. The original post about cookies simply wasn't true. Edited May 13 by ChiCruzr spelling 2

Jordan61 Posted May 13 #19 Share Posted May 13 We are currently on the Breakaway; it does still say on the menu that there is a $25 upcharge, but husband ordered surf & turf last night and they asked him if he wanted two tails. We asked about the upcharge and they said there wasn't one. 1
