Spyder2up Posted May 15 #1 Share Posted May 15 After reading all the great fun everyone seems to have on the golf carts in Bonaire we are interested in checking out these rentals for the Beyond 5/18 Cruise (this Saturday) but of course looks like everything is booked solid…my bad for not looking into this sooner. Has anyone experienced being able to rent one on the spot maybe due to a last minute cancellation or just a no show? It’s maybe worth looking into once we arrive in Bonaire 🤞
Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted May 15 #2 Share Posted May 15 (edited) We have done this and it is lots of fun. They are very clear in their rental agreement that they will only hold the cart for a certain period of time (an hour?) from when the ship docks. After that, they open up to non reservations folks. When you exit the ship, look for a pop up tent...there's a long line of them that can't be missed. Go to the Bonaire Cruisers tent and wait there for no shows. Let them know you want a cart and you don't have a reservation so they can first come-first served you in the que. Once the wait period is up, you can claim a ticket (hopefully) and proceed to the cart hut pick up location. leaveitallbehind Posted May 15 #3 Share Posted May 15 (edited) One other alternative to consider is with renting a Twizy, which is a small enclosed tandem seating vehicle. The attached link is to a company that provides guided tours with these vehicles. They are rather small and the back seat can be cramped, but they are fun and the tour is good. If you google it there is also a site that rents them independently. Just a thought. https://www.roadrunner-bonaire.com/ Edited May 15 by leaveitallbehind
Rare PTC DAWG Posted May 15 #4 Share Posted May 15 No shows are possible, the tent is at the port, their actual place of business is easy to walk to..might have more luck there if everyone is gone from the tent...
hasentreelake Posted May 15 #5 Share Posted May 15 We did this the last time on Bonaire. We did both the North and South routes as we were in port for 13 hours. It was 'fun' but not for the faint of heart. The roads are often uneven and pot-holed and lots of other vehicles going much faster than a golf cart passing you along the route. By the end of the day it starts to be work - particularly if and when the traffic starts to get heavier. It was memorable but next time we'll rent a small SUV. VermeulT Posted August 15 #9 Share Posted August 15 There will be 3 of us and Bonaire Cruisers only has golf carts for 3. Can anyone recommend another company or should I look at a car?
