ravenjls Posted June 10 #1 Share Posted June 10 Husband was playing blackjack and the pit boss came up to him and asked him if he or anyone on his account plays the slots. My husband replied no he only does table games. The pit boss then told him that someone was using his account to play slots and that he would receive a refund from all monies from the slots. It was refunded right away but was wondering how this could even happen. Any thoughts?
traceytd Posted June 10 #2 Share Posted June 10 I’m pretty sure they could tell who was using your account. They have cameras all over the casino and they know what slot games were played and at what time.
Rare PacnGoNow Posted June 10 #3 Share Posted June 10 Odd. Did he possibly log in to a slot and forget to sign out? Otherwise, could have been a glitch with the casino. They can see who was playing, as there are cameras all over. Did he ask, how that happened?

No we have never played a slot so we dont even know how it works. Thats why I was asking here. He was in the middle of a hand so he didnt ask any questions. Just seemed really strange and husband was amazed that the pit boss picked up on it. They are aware of a lot more than we gave them credit for. 1

When I go to the restroom I will ask my wife to spin it once in awhile if she is playing next to me

LeeW Posted June 13 #11 Share Posted June 13 Hard to do cash from room account without both the cruise card/medallion and a pin. If someone was just feeding cash into the machine there would be no need for a refund.

However for our last three cruises it was preprogrammed as two digit birth month followed by two digit birth year. It's that way for everyone.
LeeW Posted June 14 #15 Share Posted June 14 On Sea Princess we entered the default and then it require you to enter a new pin (could be the same). Besides the point - nobody can take money out of someone's seapass account without both the device and the pin - seems unlikely a stranger would have access to either. Sprocket Posted June 14 #16 Share Posted June 14 I play a lot in the casino and no idea how this could have happened. You have to scan your medallion and enter your month and year of birth to activate the machine. You can’t even put cash in without doing that first. All pins are 4 digits and you cannot change it. I always log out of my machine and wait until it resets before leaving it as anyone can sit down and play it. I had a woman next to me in December who just walked away and started playing another machine lucky for her that her husband sat down to play it, because she had several hundred dollars in there and it took nearly an hour for security to find out her money was on her husbands account. Great. But not the same Medallion. You need both the Medallion and birth date tied to that Medallion. If you lose your Medallion, and someone found it, unless they know that it is yours, and know your birth date, they can't abuse it. Treasure Hunter Posted June 16 #19 Share Posted June 16 Even if someone was looking over your shoulder when you put in your pin they would still need the medallion

I have to take security courses as part of my job (basic stuff; I'm not a hacker or anything) and a bunch of people on a cruise all having the same PIN on purpose makes me queasy. In fact, I wonder if the OP had the same PIN as the player and the player tried to activate play with their medallion as the OP walked by and the machine picked up the wrong one. If they had the same PIN, how would the player know the wrong medallion was connected? Do the machines show your name when you connect?
