HYATT PLACE Transportation

If you're talking about the Hyatt Place on 10th near 17th, I got a cab from the airport. Quick, easy, and affordable. (Just make sure you go to the actual taxi stand, and don't get sucked in by the touts who come at you as you exit the airport.)

O.P. Avanti is very reliable. Call them when your bags are coming out and they will be there in 10-12 min. He sits at the hotel waiting to take passengers to the airport. It is about 2 miles away. Have used them every time we have been there (over 10 times ) never waited longer than 15 min. If there are more than 2 people , Uber will be cheaper. I would not use a taxi in Lauderdale, they do try to rip off older people.

Is it an easy walk to Publix or liquor store? Are there nearby restaurants?

From the Hyatt, cross the divided street and walk behind the ES; it opens onto the roadway into Harbor Shops. There's Total Wines and Publix there. Download the publix App and enter your phone # to use at check out for some lower pricing. The supermarket also carries lots of travel size items and wines. Great dessert selection. Total is next door.

There are sports bars in the shopping area. Mezzaluna is across the Hyatt Parking lot - excellent foods. Or walk out onto main street, cross at the traffic light and head down Cordova into another shopping plaza if you want great traditional New England seafood  - Kelly's Landing. Lots of other seafood restaurants in the area - the Hyatt staff can give you specifics.

We walk out the side door of Hyatt Place...cross the street and walk through a parking structure. Agree it couldn't be easier.

What they said up above. 2 short blocks and you have several places to eat, ( DUFFYS 2 for 1 drinks all day every day ) and Publix. There is also a FREE shuttle that picks up in front of Publix about every 1/2 hour or so that takes you to the beach or downtown. Lauderdale Go, they have a live app to see where busses are any time. Service stops at 5.00 PM.

ok - so just did reservation for Hyatt (1851 SE 10th St) thru ValueTrips).  will see how this goes with pricing & let you know.

called Avanti - they charge $9 p.p. for airport pickup/drop off- said they start at 5 a.m. so we can get pickup at hotel for flight at 7 a.m.

$8 p.p. for shuttle to cruise port

is taxi price cheaper than avanti shuttle prices?

thanks!

You should have no concerns about using ValueTrips...just call the hotel to verify.

They used to have a FLL shuttle pickup for $5.00 per room reservation...perhaps that's no longer the case.

pretty much everybody on this board knows about ValueTrips. 🙂

We used them to book Hyatt for our June stay.

I don't think it's that cheap anymore. When we called the shuttle in June, I don't exactly remember what the price was, but I do remember saying to myself - heck, no. For the 5 of us it was a lot cheaper to take an uber. Faster too.

It depends how many are travelling. For a solo, the shuttle is better value. For more than that, it starts to become cheaper to take a cab.

I stayed at this Hyatt Place last December before my cruise. We used Avanti shuttle to pick us up at the airport and had no issues. It was a bit slow to get there but it wasn't the drivers fault traffic was backed up as the had shut down T1 at FLL so nobody would have been able to get there any quicker.

We also used them to go from hotel to cruise terminal. No issues here either.

Can you uber for cheaper, yes most likely but sometimes the convenience of not having to figure out how to get your luggage to fit is worth the extra couple of bucks.

As for stuff around the hotel there is pretty much whatever you need in walking distance. Publix, Walgreens and more. There is a variety of restaurants nearby a personal favorite is Waxy's Irish Pub which is about 5 min walk from the hotel.
