StLouisCruisers Posted September 4 Author #3 Share Posted September 4 Good morning friends! The weather report for today here in north central Georgia is 63F and clear. It will be 84 with sunshine this morning and partly cloudy this afternoon. Last night we had a fawn visit our back yard while the parents grazed on the slope down below us. Folks driving their golf carts past down there stop and watch them. That’s fine but I don’t like when they scare them off, or let their little dogs loose to chase them. Not good!🦌 Thank you Rich @richwmn for leaving us with the Daily and Fleet Report information. Seeing the deer was our honoring National Wildlife Day just a little early. I wish I had a newspaper carrier these days but they are few and far between these days. Both my kids were newspaper carriers as youths. I don’t have any desserts in the house but if I did I would gladly consume 2 of them. The quote is fun, no thanks to the soup, drink and wine of the day. I had no idea about the day in history concerning the founding of Los Angeles. Many thanks to our F&B ladies Eva @superoma, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard for your excellent reports today.👍 Prayers for my DB, the people of Israel and Ukraine, the hostages slain and the ones still being held, and our troops overseas who are in danger no matter where they are these days. 🙏 Also special prayers for our Daily care list members including Tana and Terry, Chuck and Annie, Joy’s DS Bonnie, Nancy’s DB, Ann and Pat, Melisa and her DH, Jacqui, Elizabeth, Roy, Terri and Jim, Ann's cleaning lady Leanne, Edi's DSIL Sandy, and Bruno awaiting his ultrasound later this week. 🙏 Congrats to everyone celebrating special occasions, cruising and preparing to cruise! 🎂🚢 Thank you once again Vanessa @JazzyVfor your reliably excellent work keeping up the lists here on the Daily!🥂 The port of the day is the lovely port of Dover, England. This was the port before on June 2, 2022 and June 3, 2023. I will be glad to post the links for your convenience in retrieving your photos from back then. We had a wonderful time while visiting there in the past and I’d be happy to post my photos again. Today would have been my DD DF’s 104th birthday. I wonder if his favorite bird, a bluebird, will visit me today? They commonly sit on my deck railings watching for an insect to go by. Yesterday morning we did get a few sprinkles early, like about 8 a.m. At 10 a.m Brenda walked over and we sat on the front porch to discuss their plans. The weather was cloudy, breezy and not hot at all. Brenda and Paul are putting their furniture in storage, except for some items their favorite auctioneer picked up Sunday in the U-Haul. They no longer wanted some of their furniture and he will sell them for Brenda and Paul. They will travel in their motorhome for as long as they want with no property to worry about. Paul is looking for some acreage to buy within a half hour of here where he can put up a pole barn big enough to house the motorhome. They are discussing plans for a house plan to build on said lot. That would be down the road. Let’s all enjoy our Wednesday, and please try to stay safe and keep well.😊 23
StLouisCruisers Posted September 4 Author #4 Share Posted September 4 We had two wonderful days in Dover while sailing on Prinsendam, Sept. 2018 and May 2019. The first time we took a double decker bus to the White Cliffs of Dover visitor center and began our hike along the trails there. Here is our view though from the ship before we left it that morning. On the path you could see where the Prinsendam was docked (right) and over to Dover Castle. We reached a photo spot where people were taking photos so of course did the same. There were horses in the area. Lots more trail to go. The farther you went the sparser the trail became At the end of the trail was the Victorian style lighthouse which of course had to have scaffolding around it to spoil the view. Knowing the schedule the bus had for returns we decided we'd better leave and hustle if we were going to make the next hourly ride. We could see the bus enter the parking lot from a quarter mile away, so broke into a jog and ran back just in time to jump onboard before the driver left. Whew! Thankfully we were five years younger then! Nevertheless we enjoyed that visit to Dover. 20
Rare puppycanducruise Posted September 4 #5 Share Posted September 4 Good morning. Thanks for the Report. Another cool morning here. Lots of stars so far, I guess it will be clear and sunny in a little while. I'm going to do some laundry and hang it on the line to dry. I'll need a trip to the grocery store and the post office. Amusing quote. I'll pass on the meal, not sure about the drink and hope the wine is okay. Prayers for so many. Cheers for all the celebrations. Happy Hump Day. 24
StLouisCruisers Posted September 4 Author #6 Share Posted September 4 Our second time in Dover was May 6, 2019 on Prinsendam once again. We got on the shuttle bus to downtown and along the way saw this view of the Dover Castle on the hill, and a Banksy mural on a building. Here's a closer shot of it. I have read that later in 2019 someone whitewashed over the mural which was worth plenty as most Banksy artwork is. I haven't been able to figure out what has happened since it was whitewashed over so If anyone knows the latest, please let us know. We were dropped off downtown near the Dover Museum and had a look inside after a walk around the town. After our look around the museum, we boarded the bus again to look at some scenery. Prinsendam preparing to leave Dover. ferry in the harbor. Time to go! 21

grapau27 Posted September 4 #14 Share Posted September 4 Good afternoon and thank you for today's daily reports Sandi @StLouisCruisers. 3 good days and quote. I like my deserts. We sailed from Dover on Norwegian Gems maiden voyage in October 2007. I hope everyone is safe and well and y'all have a wonderful day. 27
wdw1972 Posted September 4 #15 Share Posted September 4 All three days are good, although I'll admit I haven't read an actual newspaper in decades. I do remember the old days of sitting with the paper, especially on Sunday mornings. Digital certainly keeps my fingers cleaner! I'll pass on the meal and beverages, and Dover looks lovely! That's another place on the list for future cruises. Yesterday we dealt with no water. We live at work, which is a large residential facility for adults with profound intellectual disabilities. A water main needed repair, and we had to shut off the water to a large section of the campus, including many homes housing our residents, several office/support buildings (including the food service building), and all of staff housing. What was hoped to be a 2-5 hour job ended up lasting 7.5 hours. Now it's just a boiled water precaution until 6:30 tonight (24 hours from when water was restored). Rare rafinmd Posted September 4 #20 Share Posted September 4 Thank you Rich, Sandi, Vanessa, Eva, Ann, and Dixie for the FR&D I like all 3 of today’s days. Special prayers for Jacqui Ann, Pat, Terri, Jim, Melissa, Chuck, Annie and Tana with Annie and Chuck at the top of the list. I always had a cluttered desk.. A day behind on port of the day days. 12 years ago today I disembarked Queen Mary 2 in Southampton and transferred to Dover to board Crystal Symphony back to New York on September 5. A great day in history. Possibly on the soup.. My alternative is on hiatus until late September. . Happy birthday to Sharon's mom. A nice day with a chilly start. Cardiology this afternoon.. cat shepard Posted September 4 #24 Share Posted September 4 Thank you for today’s FR&D, Sandi! Boy, it rained here yesterday afternoon & evening. I think a system stalled over me, because we had torrential downpours for two solid hours. Bindi kept looking at me, as if she expected me to do something about it! Vanessa, thanks for your reply! I loved reading every word - until I got to your knee pain. But at least that I am familiar with. Thank you for keeping up with all of us. An early morning 6 month check up with my dermatologist, gym, and a bunch of chores & Bindi walks. Maybe some pool time. Prayers for all who need our support. Tana, Terry, Bonnie, Melisa & DH, Annie & Chuck, Nancy’s DB, Ann & Pat, Tony, Terri & Jim, and all our caregivers. Cheers to all who are celebrating! May we each find a reason to smile today! ************* Elephant Seven 2021 Blue Mountain Vineyard Grenache This wine is a bit elusive, but it sounds lovely. I would love to try it, since the touch of Syrah would add some depth - though it is almost at the top of my budget. Consumers & critics love it. I found a few distributors online with prices starting at $42.00. Distributor notes This Walla Walla Valley Grenache includes 10% Syrah and it presents intriguing herbal-floral aromas that mix with notes of new leather, baking spice, sweet tobacco and hints of dried fruit. On the palate, bright red fruit grabs you with acidity alluding to a splash of citrus with notes of clove lingering on the mid-palate before an extended, lightly-textured earthy finish alluding to a dusting of cocoa. Rare Denise T Posted September 4 #25 Share Posted September 4 Happy Wednesday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports. Woke up to a sunny 45 degrees today. Love this coolness. Fancy, however, does not. Goes out to do her business and comes running back in. Maybe she needs a sweater. I have an appointment to get my hair cut and colored today. Then it is back to grading assignments. 35 days until my cruise and 2 weeks until I can check into the cruise. It's coming. Happy birthday to @Sharon in AZ's DM. Thinking of all on the care list. Celebrating with all who are celebrating. Have a safe and healthy day. 26 1
