Therese S. Posted 8 hours ago #226 Share Posted 8 hours ago (edited) We usually order multiple 12 packs of water for each cruise. DH is a very big water drinker, 5-6 or more bottles a day. Very disappointed in the price increase. Why triple the cost! Just a pure money grab and with no warning! Some in the know folks here warned us about up coming price increase for WiFi and daily tips. Princess just snuck this increase in. I know others say the water is fine, but after we started bringing our own or ordering the 12 packs my fingers and feet have stopped swelling from the ships water. We are standard fare people and princess will never get me to buy a package. Don’t want my business, that’s okay I have other options. We like to cruise at a minimum once a year, but hitting the road in our travel trailer to see the USA is much more rewarding to us. We have 3 cruises booked and will become Elite on the next one. I wonder what plans Princess has for the small bottles of liquor that you can purchase pre cruise? At around $18 for very small 375ml bottle I can see the future where these double in price or Princess stops making them available for purchase. We still plan to bring a 6 or 12 pack of bottled water at embarkation and purchase more at each port along with soda. If they take it away fine, water is cheap at home it’s really just the amount of the increase and no warning that has me pissed off at Princess. The change is the contract is relatively recent change, now the price increase, would not anyone to say that there was no warning or that they were surprised if/when Princess takes the next step and actually enforces the rules. Personally i tend to take the view that if they actually have a rule they should enforce it. To have a rule then not enforce it penalizes those that follow them and rewards those that break the rules encouraging the behavior. With the massive debt CCL is facing, I would imagine that they don't want to run off people like me over something as trivial as plastic bottles. I just returned from a Princess cruise this week and it was my third in the past year. I also took 5 other people with me (3 mini suites). If they decide to enforce "the rules" I will revert to rum runners. OTOH, if they take out the laundromats, I will be looking at other brands.

Considering that cruises seem to be sailing full, they would probably not have any problem with a few people choosing not to sail with them over bringing bottles on board. Keep in mind that to a company not all passengers are equal. Some are in their targeted market group, some are not. If demand is sufficent that they can discourage some that generate less revenue for a given cabin, for some that generate more revenue they would not be upset at all. My own vested interest is if they can increase yield per cabin at current prices and rules, then they have less encentive to increase prices. Last week, they had no problem with us bringing aboard liquor in plastic/glass bottles; wine; soda in plastic/cans; and beer in 6-packs. Apparently, they hope to keep me for now. 😁 BTW: Having just one cabin sail empty would wipe out all of the "savings" created by banning plastic bottles on a cruise. Gas stations? how about your grocery store? I too will wrap up my comments here with this; I just wish Princess would stick to their past routine of sending out a notice prior to the increase. Ya'll have a wonderful and blessed day, may the rain nourish your crops and may the sun brighten each and every day!

Overnight one of my favorite restaurants added a mandatory 20% tip and $2.50 credit card fee. It is my choice to pay or go somewhere else. Any "Mandatory" tip should be mentioned on the menu or otherwise included in the price of the item(s). If it is not then we would have little recourse after you receive your bill. As for the CC fee I think I read somewhere that the CC company would not allow that or the merchant looses the privilege to accept those cards but might be just a rumour. Though considering how proud some seem to feel at ignoring the rules that might change. Pretty much the same view about children in the pools marked adult only, abuse of rules about loungers on the lines and resorts that have such rules, etc.

Bringing plastic bottles on board does not. If it did, why would Princess sell water in plastic bottles? I will continue to buy water for the cabin from Princess but will be more careful with the amount. We left behind 20-30 unused bottles last week which were probably resold to incoming passengers. As i said before the rule change about bottles is fairly recent was open season on softdrinks and water before. Other CCL lines have converted away from plastic bottles and tightened enforcement. Princess is lagging, but i expect will follow the others. Would not want you to be surprised when they do. Edited 6 hours ago by TRLD

jimlouisesophie Posted 6 hours ago #240 Share Posted 6 hours ago Both of us do not drink alcohol or soda, so a package is not suitable for us. In July we put in our shopping cart a few cases of water, and did not want to prepay which was a mistake. That being said, after all the posts on this topic, I thought I would take a chance and call customer service, with no expectations on honoring the original order. I spent several minutes with the rep, and argued the point that I preordered and wanted to pay the original amount. I tried to speak to his supervisor, was put in hold and he would not transfer me. He said that Princess could change prices whenever they wanted, unless payment is made prior to a change. The point here is if everyone who is not satisfied with the new price, just call customer service and make your point....the more pax that do this, the more likely they will reduce the price..just hoping, though. In the meantime, I have put one case in my shopping cart only, and will pay just before the cruise and will refill each empty bottle...will take a small funnel to make transferring easier..

I have items in carts lots of places online. That does not make an order. You have to order an item, agree to pay. Just because it's in your cart doesn't mean it's an order.
