I'm liking the itineraries they had for the ship's dry dock. Too bad I couldn't swing that much time off. For some reason I thought Panorama already had the updated livery.

Just missed it.   There have been several review of the trip over, the one back is slightly different but as interesting.

Looks like I am set for the second sailing post dry dock!  Nov 10th 6 Night sailing to Cabo and Ensenada.

We are taking DD and her boyfriend on his first cruise  - nice that things should be nice a clean and spruced up for his first trip!  She wants him to get as hooked on cruising as we are LOL

Thanks for this update, I didn't realize she was getting a paint job and some updating. Now, the real question is what will be done: "The ship is also expected to receive minor updates to its public areas and facilities". Sounds like no Big Chicken is being added, that's about all she needs besides basic sprucing/lipstick.

I am on the Move 10 cruise and when I heard the ship was going to dry dock before my sailing I was really hoping a Big Chicken would be put in. Maybe it will be a surprise addition.

I know they are removing Carnival Kitchen and putting a non smoking casino in its place.

Wow, that was quick. She's only 5, right?

Actually my guess (do not have any factual basis for this) is that it is pretty much on schedule (time wise).  There may be other variables such as to where a ship on the west coast has to go for Dry docks and the scheduling for that.

Sounds about right.  When I was glancing at cruise news not long ago, there were updates about Virgin’s first ship undergoing dry dock in November.  It’s slightly younger than Panorama .

Eventually, Carnival ships will be staterooms, buffets, and a casino. We are inching ever closer to that goal with every drydock. The "shows" are already just karaoke in front of a screen saver - not much more they could cut there without getting rid of the theater altogether.

i already see that on another cruise line that replace almost all theater shows with game shows like wheel of fortune, press your luck and other shows. its very sad entertainment these days is horrible compare to bad in the day

The product that the mainline cruise lines are offering today is really nothing like it was 10, 15, years ago. The only thing that's the same is you are on a ship.

I WISH they would swap out the seafood shack for Shaqs Chicken. Would make Pano even better.

I agree, the Seafood Shack does not seem to be particularly popular on my cruises. Like everything it has its fans I'm sure, but with such limited deck space why not devote it to something that more guests will enjoy?

C’mon, cruise ships today offer way more activities than they did in years past.  While it’s disappointing to lose any activity, Carnival Kitchen may not have been as popular as it seemed.  I just skimmed several reports from when the Panorama debuted and they indicated there would be 18 classes per 7-day sailing to start, with more classes added based upon the activity’s popularity.  And it seems like the activity had transitioned into sea day only with 1/2 that number of classes offered per cruise.

The production shows on Carnival were never good - just mediocre.  I thought the purpose of switching to the screens was to regularly freshen up the shows but that hasn’t happened yet and some of these shows are going on 10yo.

Would be nice if the cruise industry upped its live entertainment, but I suspect cost will prevent that from happening.  Even in theme parks, live entertainment has been slowly disappearing.

What more included entertainment is included on the Panorama, for example, than say the Freedom? Ropes course? I think that's about it, unless I'm missing something.

Skyride and sky zone, off the top of my head.  The sports deck and “water park” are also substantially larger.  And that’s even after they replaced the “water park” on the Freedom.

I've enjoyed it a few times but the price creep makes it less desirable. Oysters for a buck? I'll take a couple dozen! Oysters for $2.50? Not so much, especially when you  can get boxes of Kumomoto's for cheaper than that from local wholesalers and Pacific oysters, (the same served on the ship) for much, much cheaper, even just from the local grocery store or the neighborhood carniceria. The basic menu stuff is decent but all the MP stuff that you'd want is very high. I'd much rather see a big chicken in that spot that would take pressure off other major eateries. They may be able to squeeze in the seafood shack somewhere else (or make it delivery to a table, reverse the buzzers lol) but that is prime real estate for and underutilized food station to be sure.
