Koningsdam Water Question

Hi guys, I am set to sail on my first cruise ever on Nov9th out of San Diego.  I am midship deck 5 balcony.  I was doing some reading and didn't realize that water would be an issue I have to address.  Ideally I would love bottled water.  I purchased the Have it ALL pacakge and I have club orange.

 

I would love some tips regarding water.

Where is the closest place for me to get water?

How many waters can I buy at once?  I would love to get the bulk of the 15 drinks for water on the first day

Any chance I can get bottles of water?  I don't really want cans

I have club orange.  Will they fill my Water bottle that I am bringing with me?

 

Any advice would be great!  I don't want to have to walk every time I wanted water.  My goal is to stock up as much as I can on the first day.

It must be stated first that water from any sink is fine.  It is used for all cooking, making ice, showering, and brushing your teeth, 

 

Although you can fill your own water bottle from the sink in your bathroom, the sink in any restroom, the Lido Market Buffet Beverage Stations, the Club Orange or Main Dining Room by your waiter, or from the pitchers of ice water found throughout the Indoor pool area, it is still the water from the ship water supply.

 

If you insist on bottled/canned water, here is the standard bar menu with different configurations of packaged water available from any bar or beverage server;  Standard Bar Menu

 

The bars nearest your location are the Deck 2 Pinnacle Bar, Deck 3 Ocean Bar, Deck 9 Seaview Bar, and Deck 10 Panorama Bar, all via elevator rides.

 

When making bar purchases with your beverage package, there might be a two limit per swipe of your key card.

Welcome to Cruise Critic and cruising @newcruiserny!  I've been drinking ship tap water since 1982.  It's fine.  You can put your water bottle or any other drinks you pick up at the bars in the fridge to keep cold and your steward will keep your cabin ice bucket full if you request it.

My experience with the HIA package is that it includes the small cans of water.  The taste is fine.  There's no metallic taste at all.

 

The first time I had HIA (Dec 2022), it included the larger, screw-top cans but no longer (at least not as of this past January on Eurodam).  The smaller cans are pop-tops.  Fine for having in the cabin, but that makes it a bit more of an issue to carry around.  Can't open one that then toss it in a carry-on.

 

If you want the larger can, you'll be charged for it.

 

I also typically get drinks while gambling.  That includes all beverages, so I stock up on the screw-top cans while I'm there.

Remember, do not fill your bottle directly from the beverage stations, etc.  Fill a clean glass with water and then pour that into your bottle.  Keeps it clean and germ free for the rest of us!

The water anywhere on the koningsdam is clean,clear and without smell.you can refill your water bottle in your cabin and it was fine for me.

As others have said the tap water is fine. Ice is readily available of you want it cold. One tip for the beverage package. It is entirely possible that you won't reach your 15 drinks per day limit (for the standard "signature" package non alcoholic drinks count to the total), you can go to any bar and get a few cans of water, take them to your cabin and keep them in your fridge for future use. Use your beverage package to your benefit, don't leave extra beverages on the card.

On at least two of our cruises, when I asked for water at the bar (w/ HIA) I was invariably given Perrier bottles, which were just fine. IIRC, they had an eccentric size (at least, not to US standards). 10 ounces? 300 grams? Again my recollection is fuzzy but I may have been requesting carbonated water. What I clearly remember is thinking that Perrier was a nice touch.

On one of our recent cruises, the CD presented a movie covering the operating infrastructure of the ship. One section had to do with the water purification process, production, and delivery. I was so impressed that since then, unlike when at home, I no longer bother with distilled water for my cpap machine while onboard.

 

It's odd, though, that up until this thread it's never occurred to me to fill my water bottle from our cabin's own water supply.

The gym also has a cold water fountain dispenser like you find in airports/health clubs where you place a personal water bottle under the nozzle and the sensor causes water supply and you don’t have any issue with your bottle mouth “touching” the supply nozzle. You can add ice as described above, from multiple sources including asking at a bar.

With the beverage package you can get "free" canned water.  If you want a bottle, it has a cost.

 

We take a personal water bottle onboard (empty) and just get the canned water to pour into it.  

 

That said, we also fill our water bottle with water from the ship's supply.  It's processed the same as most bottled waters (reverse osmosis and filtered).

You can get water from any of the servers, no matter where you are.

If you're looking for canned water I think that is a "bar" item (there are lots of bars). If you just want a glass of water that is available anywhere.

We saw that presentation on the Volendam recently.  Very impressed too.

You can order canned or bottled water in the Lido, MDR and specialty restaurants as well as all the bars.  Yes, a free glass of water is available all those places as well as your cabin.

By "small," it's a normal 12 ounce can. There are larger, 16 ounce aluminum ca-bottles, but they're not part of the beverage package.

 

Plastic bottles (and straws that work well) aren't available.

We carry insulated cups. (Yeti 30 oz.) with reusable plastic straws. We fill them with ice and water from the Lido.

 

We do order cans of water each night from one of the bars. We keep them in the fridge.
