What To Drink In Concierge Club

Recommended Posts

You won't be Diamond until you complete your 10th cruise. So, after this one, any future cruises you will be Diamond status and be given a key to the Concierge Lounge. I have heard that on Freedom though there is a Diamond Lounge for Diamond cruisers and that the Concierge Lounge is for suites. (JS doesn't count as a suite for access to the Concierge Lounge. In either case it's a great perk that RCCL gives that I haven't heard of on any other line.

Enjoy your cruise!

You're right the Freedom has separate lounges for suite and for Diamond/diamond plus passengers. The Diamond lounge is in the Viking Crown area where the sports bar is on Mariner and Navigator. Great views from the pictures I have seen.

The champagne is usually their house brand, not very good. But on our 14 day Jewel to Hawaii, they were not fully stocked with this, and there were so many of us drinking champagne that from third night on, they were forced to bring out the Korbel! On the last night the Korbel disappeared and some really awful stuff was pored. Yuk. But on the bright side, on that last night they brougt out some decent chardonnay, Stone Cellar, so I was just as happy!

karen, generally the concierge is acting as bar host, but if he gets busy, you can just serve yourself. From reports that I have read, it really varies. I always told Giuseppe not to bother with me, that I'm perfectly happy to pour my own wine. He WANTED to wait on me, but I wanted to give him a break! :)

Carol, what ship is Giuseppe sailing on these days? He was with us on the Enchantment last fall and I just love him! :)

I posted that I thought he had moved to the Serenade, but my wife, who knows these things better than I, tells me that he is now on the Splendour, but may have moved up in the rankings to a higher position in the hotel staff.

Perhaps someone who has recently been on the Splendour can confirm whether or not he is onboard and in what position.

We just asked about Guiseppe on our May Explorer cruise. We were told that he is no longer in the concierge. I forget which ship he is on. But, if I remember correctly, he is in customer service. I agree, we also had him on Enchantment last year. GREAT SERVICE!

Thanks all you guys!!

The Kahlua mixed with milk or cream sounds yummy - if they have Kahlua!!

I am a little angry 'cos the Bar Manager John Bragg on the Jewel (named and shamed!!) told me that "no Baileys" was a Head Office decision!! Liar liar pants on fire!!! I so hate it when they tell lies!!! Now I have a slightly sour taste in my mouth when I think of that cruise. It was really a super cruise - he has spoilt the memory!!!

Sure, I can live without all this rubbish - but I don't like wine, champagne etc. Like Baileys and Pimms!! And looking for another 'fun' sweetish drink!!

I'm not sure he lied to you. The Hotel Director generally makes the final decision as to what liquors are available in the CL. Maybe the HD on the Jewel at the time didn't approve the Baileys, and this was John's way of explaining. Maybe give him the benefit of the doubt???

Regarding the Diamond Lounge on the Freedom. I called RCCL Customer Service to ask the difference in the two lounges, and if you are Diamond staying in a suite which lounge you are assigned.

I was told that there IS NO separation in concierge lounges for Diamond and Suite passengers– that the lounge in the Viking Area coincidently is called the Diamond Lounge. It is simply a cocktail lounge for all passangers.

I did not call another customer service agent to see if I get the same story. Anyone know for sure?

Can any one remember what the name of the 'French swill' is [!] and can anyone advise what 'Argyle' is like - I can see both Korbel and Argyle on the Wine and Dine package but have never heard of Argyle. Thanks

I think the info is wrong. I think the platinium/diamond line might be more accurate. Folks who toured Freedom on the preview cruises said that the lounge was definitely for Diamond/Diamond plus folks and you had to use a key to enter. It is also set up with a computer and a desk for the conierge. Looks very different from when that space was used for the sports bar.

As is all too often the case, the information given to you by the Customer Service representative is incorrect as it relates to the Freedom of the Seas. I suspect that some of the customer service representatives who work in call centers in Wichita and elsewhere have never even been on an RCI cruise. The Diamond lounge on the Freedom is accessible only by a special key card and access is restricted to Diamond and Diamond plus C&A members. Of the two lounges, I think the Diamond members got the better one, if only because of the view.:)

Many of the recent Freedom cruisers have already posted on here that.....The Diamond Club...up beside the Viking Lounge- Deck 14...is the Concierge Lounge for Diamond & Diamond Plus C & A members.

The Concierge Lounge for suite guests is on Deck 10.

No confusion except that created by misinformation provided by RCI's customer service representative. :( The Concierge Club on Freedom of the Seas is an interior lounge on Deck 10 while the Diamond Club is a lounge with floor to ceiling windows on Deck 14, readily accessible by stairs or elevator. We were on a pre-inaugural sailing and were able to view both rooms. Frankly, enjoying free drinks in the evening while looking out on the beautiful Caribbean is worth whatever "inconvenience" might be involved in getting to the Diamond Club.:)

Hands off, Buster.......he's MINE! ;)

I'll share if you will... ;)

We asked for Myers Rum one time and the concierge said he would check with the bar manager. Then next night he said he had checked and was told no. I want to say they stocked it with bacardi gold, but don't quote me on it. Guiseppe was frustrated that they wouldn't let him have a bottle of Myers, especially since he had checked and it cost less than whatever it was that they had stocked!

We often went for drinks in the area of the Viking Crown that is the Diamond Lounge when it was the sports bar. As the OP said, great views and it wasn't that out of the way before dinner. The Martini bar and party rooms takes up the rest of the Viking Crown and I have been in both pre-dinner and it was fine.

ok so the diamond lounge is where the sports bar was before? so where is the sports bar? I guess I should want to be surprised by all this. I heard the diamond lounge is like the concierge lounge but is up on the 14th while the concierge lounge is on the 10th. You have to have a key to get into both but the one for diamond m embers is finally not closed in and you can see out. If so that is going to be awesome from 5-830!!!

There is not a designated sports bar on Freedom of the Seas, but many of the lounges as well as the casino have tvs (some large screen) that will show major sports events if the necessary satellite feed is available.:)

Hi Bill - no monitors in the FOS casino, unlike Voyager class. They lost out with the new casino design. :)

On the Air seems to double as a sports bar.
