Regal Princess

STACEYSGRAN

Recommended Posts

I've heard it's a beautiful ship. Don't have that much info on the cruise, though.

But just a heads up. The Regal Princess is slightly older and smaller then some of the other Princess ships. Also, since it's a longer cruise, expect a little less nightlife.(Generally older passengers)

Bottom line.....You'll have a great time!:D

When my family and I wen't on our Princess cruise (My first cruise) Caribbean Princess..me (14), mom (44), grandmother (65) Expected some troubles with me being the only guy. Had a great time. There were people form all ages onboard. We really liked the Princess way of cruising.

Have fun!

I will be on the Regal April 9th:D I sailed previously LA -Hawaii-LA (I imagine that is what you are doing)

As previously stated, the regal is an older ship and I personally feel like I'm on a ship not a floating hotel. Since the ship is smaller you get to know your fellow passangers better (a plus for me)(on the bigger ships you can see someone one day and never see them again).

If you have any particular questions I would be happy to answer them.

Great ship (if you like understated and not over-the-top surroundings)! Great crew, many of whom are staying with her when she goes down under. Smaller, more intimate. We were on the Island (loved her too). The sea days are the BEST ... great relaxation time. You'll have a wonderful time!

True, the longer cruises .. the average age will be older, but we (mid-40s) really had a great cruise to HI and back.

Just for Fun:

STACEYSGRAN--don't worry when SingerEsq says "when she goes down under"! Regal is being transferred to P&O/Australia this fall--not planning to sink beneath the waves.

I'm boarding Regal for the first time this coming Sunday, so thanks to all for the info.

My husband and I will be cruising for the first time on the regal princess from los angeles to hawaii. Can anyone tell me if they have done this cruise and give me some advice on do's and don'ts

We cruised on the Regal from LA to Hawaii 3 years ago and it was fantastic. We had a great time at sea. Enjoyed every moment.:)

We took the Regal a couple of years ago to/from Hawaii and thought it was a great ship. Here are a few of the things she has that none of the other Princess ships have:

* a swim-up bar

* tub-sized showers in all cabins

* smaller lounges but more of them which makes for more variety of daytime activities since there are more lounges to use, and more variety of entertainment at night. The Adagio Lounge is a piano bar in the evening -- a great place to go and relax for a pre-dinner drink.

* a true dance lounge, the Stage Door. It has a sunken dance floor with tables and seating above it. (Our CD had remote-controlled dune buggy races there during the day. :) )

* a separate pizzeria (it's not part of another dining room)

* the Dome: the casino is at the very top of the ship with beautiful views. There is a lounge around the edge which is a nice place to sit and relax.

The Regal also has open aft deck space, with lots of loungers, all the way from the buffet to deck 7 with both shade and sun. It's very easy to find a lounger and watch the waves behind you.

I think the Regal is a great ship for longer cruises since she accommodates passengers very well without feeling crowded.

A positive or negative, depending on your point of view: she has only one dining room so that all dining is assigned early or late.

Good comment there from you Regal fans, may I ask that you post a little cruise review of your upcoming Regal cruises? For us and others info as we are on her last trip as Regal Princess from LA-Sydney 31 August (32 days) thence to become Pacific Dawn (P&O Australia.)

Best wishes from OZ:cool:

The other thing the Regal has that none of the other Princess ships have is single cabins. Yes, single cabins. They are on Deck 4, right near the medical center and are very roomy -- almost the same size as a double cabin but with only one bed. They have two portholes instead of a large window and you're just above the water line which makes for some interesting views out the window when it's choppy (see my avatar). You can book them as a double but the 2nd bed is a bunk bed that comes down from the ceiling. There are only about 10 or 12 passenger cabins on this deck, all singles, so that you never get any noise from people walking by. I paid far less for this cabin as a single than I have for similar cruises.

  • 4 weeks later...

When I sailed on the Crown/Regal Princess they had a seperate movie theatre, but think I heard it had been converted to storage?.

Sailed in the "single cabins" a couple of times and liked them. My secret on booking cabins on this ship was to get as close to the stern as possbile as the open rear decks are like a private balcony at sunrise or sunset.

The theatre on Regal Princess is alive and well.

She's a great ship and she will be missed - one of my favorite memories is a pre-dinner cocktail at Adagio, looking out the Promenade windows at the sea moving by under the light of a sunset. Sublime.

Hello everyone !!

Thanks to everyone for all the useful information on the Regal. Kristy and I are taking the Regal on 2-17 July 2007 to Hawaii. We cannot be more excited. We sailed around Hawaii many years ago on the NCL Star. Took the long trip down to Fanning Island, what at trip. This journey on the Regal should be fantastic.

Thinking about renting a Tux from the ship for the formal nights so I do not have to pack all those suit jackets, formal clothes, etc...

Looking forward to meeting everyone !!

All the Best -- Dave and Kristy :) :)

Exactly. Here's one of my favorite spots on the ship: the aft area on Deck 10 (all of the aft areas are open deck so there's lots to choose from.) This was taken mid-afternoon -- look at all the available loungers!
