jules815 Posted May 22, 2007 #176 Share Posted May 22, 2007 Hi I have a couple of questions. I forgot if the Mariner has a mini fridg? And have the beds been changed to the new bedding? I see there are no flat screen TVs but like someone said...who's in the room long enough;) Ronrocks, yes a balcony room is bigger than a walk in closet!:) I find there was plenty of room for 2, and actually found it easy or roomier than Carnival, not sure why they say the dementions are less! Thanks for this thread it'll help get me thru till Jan. MAO Yes, there are mini-fridges in all the rooms on Mariner. (they don't get as cold as a fridge at home though.) The balcony rooms are quite nice. And yes, they all have new beds and the upgraded bedding. That was done while she was in drydock last month. MAO Posted May 22, 2007 #179 Share Posted May 22, 2007 Thanks jules815, the bedding was the one thing in the cabin that I would have changed on our first cruise aboard Mariner, now I won't have to change a thing:) I hope to see some of the things I missed the first time I was on her....I can't wait and here is reallyitsmema freaking out about 3 weeks...take those deep breaths my friend, but pitty us poor fools who have 7 months to wait:eek: MAO
vanillanut Posted May 22, 2007 #180 Share Posted May 22, 2007 Thank you so much for the Mariner information!! We leave in four days :D for B2B Eastern and Western as first time RCCL travelers. Can't wait! What I wonder, though, is whether we will have to get off the ship on the day we end one cruise and begin another? We will not have to change staterooms, but will we have to disembark for a couple hours while they clean everything?
cruzincurt Posted May 22, 2007 #181 Share Posted May 22, 2007 Ooops, we digressed and went on the Carnival Liberty for the chance to visit Costa Rica and Panama. Oh how we missed RCCL. This fall we are back on the lovely Mariner in a JS this time. This is our favorite ship and can't wait to sail her again. No one can beat the interior promenade on this class of ships. Getting close to that "Diamond" status.
flygirl822 Posted May 23, 2007 #182 Share Posted May 23, 2007 This is a great thread! I just booked this morning and I am getting more and more excited! We sail in less than six weeks (07/01/07) in a Junior Suite. First time in a suite and also first time with a balcony! I can't wait! Has anyone ever sailed during the July 4 holiday? Just wondering if we can expect fireworks?
auntpam Posted May 23, 2007 #183 Share Posted May 23, 2007 Hello! I would like to know if anyone knows if there is a guest talent show on the Mariner of the Seas? We will be on the June 3rd sailing and my daughter hopes that there is one as she has been in one on the Carnival Liberty and the Holland America Volendam and really enjoys it. I hear the CD is someone named Becky for our sailing? How do you like her? Does she have lot's of great things going on on the ship? Thanks for any info you have. We will be sailing in 12 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) Pam

I hear the CD is someone named Becky for our sailing? How do you like her? Does she have lot's of great things going on on the ship? Thanks for any info you have. We will be sailing in 12 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) Pam Yes, the Mariner has hosted a Karaoke Idol competition each time I've been aboard....three times. Becky Thompson is a wonderful CD, she is from England. She will teach you to greet her with "Hello Luv!" and always finishes with "whatever you choose to do, do it with a smile!" She is ever-present, seems to really enjoy her job, and sustains high energy levels all thru the cruise. You will likely have Capt. Johnny as your Master and this will be his first cruise as he is returning from his 10 week vacation period. He too is FANTASTIC! He will finish his announcemens with a Chinese proverb. He is very personable and the crew obviously love him! He energizes his staff and seems to know his crew very well. They have verbalized to me how much they miss him when he is away. I know you will have a grand time! Happy Sails! Rose
ANNIE121105 Posted May 23, 2007 #185 Share Posted May 23, 2007 We are sailing the Mariner in February of 2008. Does anyone know if Captain Johnny will be on this time?
diskris Posted May 23, 2007 #186 Share Posted May 23, 2007 I have heard they have done away with Karaoke Idol. Is this true? I would love it if they had an actual adult talent show because 3 of us going are dancers so that would be fun for us.

Lowcountrygal Posted May 30, 2007 #190 Share Posted May 30, 2007 Sooo wondering about that piano bar!? What else do folks do for night life on the Mariner? We usually go to the casino then to the dance club but where else do Mariner fans find is a fun place to hang out and party alittle?? MAO MAO, You will find piano bar entertainment most every night in the Schooner Bar on Deck 4. The pubs along the Promenade (Wig & Gavel and Vintages) usually have guitarists playing. The Wig & Gavel will usually have a vocal guitarist playing folk & light rock and Vintages will usually feature just guitar sounds without the vocals. You will find jazz quartets, ballroom dancing, Latin dancing, etc. in the numerous lounges aboard. There is never a lack of things to do! Hope that answers your question. yukongrl Posted May 30, 2007 #193 Share Posted May 30, 2007 Hi Guys, This is a great thread--Thanks for the helpful Info. We are going on the Mariner October 2007 Western in a GS. Does any one have any suggestions for excursions with our DS who will be 8 years old and our DD who will be 18 months old by then. Our Son has been on 3 cruises And we cruised last year with both kids. Our DD who was 7 months old and did beach excursions with no problem - she loved it. She had never slept thru one night since being born BEFORE that cruise-- and then once we got back - she must of missed the rocking motion of the ocean, she went back to her horrible sleep patterns! I had read it somewhere on one of these threads, but now I can't find it:confused: -- about a private catamaran that has a lady captain-where a couple had taken their baby with them - they said it was pricy but totally worth it! but I forget all the details -- just thought I would throw the question out and see if any one has any ideas! Thanks! from another spoiled balcony gal :p
