Well getting on the ship was almost a snap but after our luggage that we carried on was x rayed and they saw all the foil lables from my champagne they made us open our suit case and took out all the wine and champagne and beer we brought except for 1 bottle each and tagged it and said they would give it back at the end of the cruise .....

When we got on board we complained to the front desk and the stewart and the Bartenders suggested we can get room service to bring 1 bottle each a day and thats what they did -----So every day we called down to room service and they gave me 1 bottle a day of my champagne and they brought up the beer the first night ,we had it by sailaway in skywalkers

Besides that minor detail the ship was still looking great as always in everyway ---We were in room E730 and I must say this is the greatest room on the ship for privacy and what a view from the Balcony its breath taking and you can do almost anything on that Balcony your heart desires..

I would say that the only setback to this room is that the bathroom floor tile is starting to look very old , we brought our own listerine bleach wipes and sanitized the floor ourselfs a few times so we wouldnt get athletes foot and kept towels down on it all week so it wasnt exposed to our feet that much

As far as the bedding the beds have very nice Duvets and pillows and we asked for extras and our stewart Noel brought them right to us and i tipped him 20 bucks when i got on board and 20 at the end and he was as pleasant as could be and so were all the stewarts on our floor all greeting us with a smile all week

Now as far as the beds they pretty much need to be replaced but i always carry my King sized feather bed with us so the bed was a little more tolerable for me to sleep on ,we live 25 minutes from the port so i always pack as much as I want then we park at one of the restaurants near the port all week then take a cab from there so we get door to door service for 10.00 bucks there and back { By the way i know the owners to all the restaurants down town that i service so i get a spot for myself from them ,they dont do this for anyone else so dont park at a restaurant all week or you will be towed} So as far as iam concerened the beds Scuk!!

I will continue later need to run some errands but wanted to get some of this is before the next cruise ports on sunday

I do think it was nice that they allowed you to receive one bottle per day and 'stored' the rest for you. I surmise that they are trying to prevent pax carrying on a large 'party supply', drinking it all at once and becoming overly intoxicated. Liability issues and all that entails.

Well as far as the food is concerned on the ship

We took advantage of any time dining just like we did last year on this cruise but this year we seemed to wait much longer then we did last year in the Palm dining room for a table regardless if you sit with strangers or not and I must say the quality of food has taking a slight dive and i think the food was better last year then it was this year ---A few times the menu didnt seem to my liking so i ordered the NY steak and it was fair not very good not great but fair and the breakfast in the dining rooms was horrible and if you like good Maple syrup bring your own cause the maple on the ship is horrible IMOP so next time iam bring my own ...

The buffet I thought was better then the dining room sometimes as far as dinner is concerned so we sometimes had a little success eating in the Horizon then the palm for a few nights

We ate at Sabatinis on monday on our anniversary and it was great at the end I had the Veal chop and my wife had the Lobster tail and we made reservations for this sunday when we got on the boat and waited on a small line to do this so get there early if you want to get the time and table that you want ..

Also by friday night i kind of was sick of the food in the buffet and the Palm dining room so it was formal night and i went back to Sabatinis and bribed the Maitra d with a 20.00 to sit me and my wife down in there again for a meal then i met up with a couple from california that was one of our neighbors on emerald deck and let them sit with us at a table of 4 and that hepled the Maitra d accomidate us better then giving me and my wife a table for 2 and we just had a shorter meal then the first night ---Salad ,a small ap, dinner ,and desert ,it was great

So the food on the ship from a scale of 1- 10 i would give it a 5

We didnt hear anything good about sterling steak so we opted not to try that out ..

I drink Champagne most of the time so i was always at the Crooners Bar all week thats me and my wifes meeting spot and thats were you can find us most of the time when we are on board and we always meet lots of nice folks there and they always have great bartenders there cause usually only 2 bartenders work this bar all week together and you get to know them real well as the days go on and this is the place i would buy a bottle of champagne and they would hold it for me and pour it when iam in the casino or just hanging out with them and it sreal conveinent...

we were on the same cruise and had no problems with the rum and jack in our checked luggage. we even brought some extra rum in st.thomas (smuggled it onboard in an empty water bottle). i guess they do random searches and we got lucky!

i agree with the bathroom - the tile was cracked and yuck - had mildew!

Hi, thanks for adding your experience. I was hoping that enforcement was going to be spotty to non-existent as it has in the past.

OP, you sound like a good compromiser and know how to have a good time. Did you have all your bottles in one bag? Gald you had a good time.

I am sure enforcement WILL continue to be spotty to non-existent. I think it's better to keep it out in the open. I had 8 bottles in a cardboard box. Just put it up on the xray belt and security never blinked an eye. I'll see in November if I can do it the same way.

I am a travel agent and I just called Princess twice to clarify the alcohol issue. I got two different answers! One agent said it was acceptable to bring one bottle per person on board of wine or champagne, but no hard liquor or "brewed" beverages (beer). The second agent said that there was no limit to the number of bottles. I asked if I could bring six bottles of wine and she said that would be fine. She recommended carrying them on board myself because she said that although they tried to be careful, they were not responsible for bottles breaking. I wish they could get together with a definative answer!

that's interesting, when they changed the policy a little back, I looked it up on their site and it was there. Looked yesterday, I can't find anything that says there's a limit. If you go to FAQs it says you can't bring booze except Wine and Champagne no mention of a limit. Might be handly to have a print out for anyone boarding with more than one bottle each.

I agree.. I looked all over and cannot find the one bottle rule anywhere.

I can't find it on the website either, but they did have the one bottle limit in my last copy of "cruise answer" book that they send before the cruise. It seems that if they want to enforce it they should make sure it's easy to find and know about.

I think the key words here, is that the liquor taken from the passengers was on boarding, from carry on luggage.

So far, I have not heard of anyone having any liquor confiscated from checked luggage that is delivered to your cabin.

I hope it remains that way! ;)

Anywayz ---I almost hit the pick 6 at saratoga on july 12 ----thats where you pick the winning horse from the last 6 races in a pool that can make you 6 figures if you hit it and i hit 5 of 6 and got a crappy consolation prize of 602.00 i invested 64.00 in to the race and almost won the whole thing but some horse i love didnt run that day I need him to run and iam still a humble man The 4 winners got 142,000,.00 each ----But this was- the best cruise i ever took with that e730 room it was great and i have some pics of the room and Sabatinis when i figure out how to get this set up for you folks so dont worry the Caribbean Princess is a nice place to be for 7 days

I remember seeing some one being stopped just after the xray machines. I said to myself that was really going to hurt to lose all of the stash. I was standing nearby as my dad had to get patted down because he set off the metal detectors and they could not find a source (it was his suspenders). That was quite a stash you had in that suitcase. All the bottles were very nicely wrapped in bubble wrap.

After reading this I looked at the answer book just received for my Baltics cruise....this time it says you are allowed " one bottle of wine & one bottle of champagne each".

Other times it said a reasonable amount of the above.

So it looks like they are tightening up.
