Oops!

I was trying to post the link from Seabourn about on which cruise ship Wils and Kate should honeymoon, but when I click on the url for the poll page, it comes up differently. Sorry. It was just a bit of fun, but we are running second to SILversea.

Huh???

Host Dan

The USA Today Travel site you quote in #511 is a great source of Cruise related information. In particular, see report of Celebrity tour bus passengers being subject to armed robbery in St Kitts, Sunday 14 November.

Will you be going ashore in St Kitts on 16 December? :(

I will be there ten days before on Silversea and am " considering my options"!

I really don't "trust" any of the Islands right now (except maybe St Barts). At this point in my cruising life, the ship is the destination...

Excellent advice. Will the MDR be open for lunch whilst in port ( or on sea days for that matter)?

Not any more. I agree with Host Dan about not trusting the islands but for sure Jamaica, Bahamas, St Thomas, Puerto Rico, and now St Kitts:(

I couldn't agree more, Dan! Even St. Barts is a bit overpriced for the "experience". We are looking forward to our December 10th cruise, and meeting you.

If you vote for a ship, please don't make it an expensive one as we poor British taxpayers may have to pick up the bill ( check). :(

Of course there is always the option of the Royal Yacht Britannia. ;)

It is magnificent, has history and precedent and is probably the most stable ship around. No problems with getting seasick!

And handy for the delights of Edinburgh and magnificent Scotland.

Marja!

We are so sorry to learn about the health issues you described and the difficulties you and your husband faced with the return to the Netherlands!

Hopefully he is in full recovery mode now and out of that terrible pain.

Please give him our best and hopefully we will see each other again on another fine Seabourn cruise or crossing!

Best regards, Two of your London friends (of whom I am sure you have many)

MARIANH,

>"Of course there is always the option of the Royal Yacht Britannia."

Is it available for charter? I think IIRC, Seabourn used to have an optional tour with tea on it. From what I read, the happy couple might go back to Kenya.

Thanks Seabourn friends on Cruise Critic! René still has to stay in hospital and the foot/leg are not better yet! Fever went down though.... However his leg is very hot.

He must have had a tiny little wound of any kind on his foot in which a bacteria "settled down" while on the ship.

Hope to see improvement tomorrow...

Have a nice Sunday!

Marja

hi sn,

i am new to cruise critic and have only come here as we are about to leave for a christmas cruise on seaboard. having seen your words about your husband's gout i thought i might say how terrible it is that he is in this state. having osteoarthritis and a number of years of rather chronic gout, i started seeing a specialist and now am nearly free of symptoms. i assume that you are aware of the purine chart for foods and what can be helpful and what is not. when you mention the rich life of being aboard ship, i can assure you that this has almost nothing to do with the onset of gouty arthritic episodes. the major factor is genetics and once episodes begin, the best defense is an anti-imflamitory followed with a drug to lower uric acid(allopurinol). and lots of water to flush the system. each onset of gout can further damage joints so getting on the right medication asap is best. find a very good and patient rheumatologist quickly before he ends up with kidney stones. neither of you will want to deal with that.

i know this is off topic from the thread but it can be very serious, as you already know.

good luck.

When you are Royalty in this country anything is possible!

The date for the wedding has just been announced - Friday 29 April in Westminster Abbey. A "Bank holiday " is to be declared. This is expected to cost the British economy around $10 billion in lost production. The British taxpayer will pick up the tab for "security". Estimated at around $20 million ( mainly due to double pay for police on a Bank Holiday!). However these costs will be mitigated to a small extent by increased tourism. So come everyone and bring friends. It's a good job our economy is in great shape.

I see your Saturday Night Live show engaged in a bit of lese majeste, with Anne Hathaway doing her Princess impression again. As a former Queen once famously said - "we are not amused."
