Favorite Cruise?

This is sort of a general question but i know we all love cruising so what is your favorite cruise or cruises you have ever taken, or if you can't choose what is your favorite place to cruise to and why?

My favorite was the 12 day cruise to the Mediterranean on Celebrity Summit June 2008 because the views were absolutely awe inspiring.

Are you asking exclusively about Celebrity ships?

If yes, then both cruises on Century 2003 and 2007.. best ever service and food.

If not, then Caribbean Princess.. good service, great seafood buffets, various pools for every taste, nice features as mini-golf, big movie screen (MUTS), nice smaller scale entertainment.

Nice views? Hmmm... I love Eastern Caribbean.. So anything that included St Thomas, San Juan, St Maarten was beautiful, of course California Coastal - SF, SD, Monterey, Catalina Isl (Mercury) was great.. and West Mediterranean - Monaco, Barcelona, Naples, Marseilles.(RCCL Splendor) :)

My favorite cruises ever have been the Bermuda cruises my (future) wife and I took to Bermuda on Home Lines and Celebrity out of New York City! We love Bermuda and sailing out of and into New York Harbor was the BEST!

I think it would have to be my very first cruise - Carnival Inspiration out of Puerto Rico. Just because everything was so new and exciting. I had no expectations of the cruise and didn't even know what a room steward was!:D

My favorites are favorites because of the itineraries, not because of the ship and/or cruise line.

My first favorite was doing two 14 night South America cruises on the Mercury in 2002. We boarded the ship in Valparaiso, rounded Cape Horn, made it to the Falklands, saw penguins and volcanos and fiords, and ended in Buenos Aires. Then we stayed on the ship for the next cruise which went up to Rio de Janiero and docked there for three days during Carnaval. Celebrity included our tickets to the Sambadrome and proviced all tranportation for everyone on the ship to get to the parades. It was amazing. We then returned to Buenos Aires for our flights home.

My next favorite(s) were my two transpacifics on Princess (Sapphire and Diamond), month long cruises from CA to Sydney or vice versa. That itinerary is hard to beat, especially for someone who loves to see different cultures (Fiji, Samoa and American Samoa most notably), and anyone who loves Sydney (who doesn't?). We have another similar cruise booked on the Millenium in 2010, and I can't wait.

Wow, this is a tough one to decide! I would say that my favorite cruise is our most recent, 16 dayTA on Galaxy, great itinerary, smooth crossing, fantastic crew, & great passengers. This would have to be followed closely by our cruise on Zenith for her final sailing. There was more comradary on that sailing than any other we've been on, & a huge CC group. It was wonderful to be aboard Zenith for her final Celebrity sailing

As for favorite place to cruise to, that's easy; Bermuda: clean, friendly beautiful, with the best beaches.

I agree with Bbro, my favorite was my first. Sun Princess 11 day Southern Caribbean. Don't get me wrong, I don't think there is such a thing as a bad cruise, but the first was the best. We were celebrating our 20th Wedding anniversary (it took me that long to talk my husband into going on a cruise!) and the staff on the boat spoiled us rotten. We also had 12 of our family and friends sailing with us to help us celebrate. It was a blast. Needless to say, after the first cruise was such a success, my husband was more than willing to try cruise #2, 3#, #4, etc.

I think the first cruise is always the best cruise and for me it was a March Break cruise aboard The Sovereign of the Seas...1992, I think. This was before the internet and I remember being blown away by the size as we approached the port. Of course, now a ship that size would be on the smallish side according to today's standards. A cruise aboard Grandeur of the Seas out of New Orleans was pretty amazing, too...gorgeous ship-lots of glass. Then there's The Century. Loved the service, food and thalassotherapy pool. I hope our cruise this Christmas/NY aboard The Constellation is as good!

For scenery no contest -- on our Seven Seas Mariner Alaska cruise the ship actually sailed within the Inside Passage between ports. Keeping the casino open was not a priority, plus the ship is smaller and so can navigate through places that would squeeze a larger vessel. The foothills (or smaller mountains) rise straight out of the water only a short distance from both sides of the ship. Breathtaking and unforgettable! A close second was coming within a few hundred feet of Hubbard glacier on a crystal clear September day aboard Summit.

For the overall experience my answer is a Hawaii circle cruise on Summit in autumn 2006. John Howell put together a great cruise. The four sea days out and four back are perfect for total relaxation. And what better place to relax than an M-Class ship (on an aft CC balcony)?:) The entertainment seemed a notch above our other X cruises before and since. The food was good. And the weather also cooperated for the most part. Hawaii is a great destination as well.

We've not yet had a bad cruise. Each one has been enjoyable in its own way. These moments stand out for us, though.

Of the 25 cruises we've taken, the best, so far, was the 12 night Med on the Millenium in Oct. 2006. Sailing out of Venice is something I will never forget. In addition, food and service were both excellent and, dispite all our concerns, the ship was in excellent condition.

We've done a bunch of cruises and I find that the things that make certain cruises stand out are usually a couple of "firsts". First time on an itinerary or first time on a particular ship. Add in an especially fun time due to the people you meet on a particular cruise. The list for us is pretty long but here are a few:

The cruise where my wife and I met

A cruise around Italy

Our first transatlantic.

Our third transatlantic which had a screwed up itinerary and became known as the "magical mystery tour"

A North Cape cruise with several days of the midnight sun.

A 16 day Quebec City to Fort Lauderdale repo down the east coast

I could go on.....

i have to say the best cruise was the one i took in november. the ship itself was okay, the food was okay. but what made it fantastic was the soap opera stars that were with us. it was the most awesome time. to spend 4 days with 14 soap opera stars was unbelievable. i can't wait for the second one. it was only my second cruise. i am hoping the food on century is a lot better.

Was it our cruise with Renaissance to Istanbul-Kushadasi-Rhodes-Crete and Athens with three nights each in Istanbul and Athens?

Or was it our cruise last summer to the Baltic (on Celebrity) -- Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallinn and Klaipeda?

We are itinerary-driven travelers. The ship is the hotel that takes us to see the world. We get to see a number of different cities/locations without ever having to re-pack our suitcases. We are thrilled that the American cruise lines are expanding their offerings beyond the old traditional destinations and we look forward to seeing even more of the world than we would on our own. Now, if there was only a way to make some of those flights shorter.

My first cruise was on the Norway cruising around the carabbean. We were on our Honeymoon and I had no idea about Formal Nights, or what to expect from a cruise .......................ended up wearing the dress I had got married in Vagas in both Formal Nights :o Sadly the Norway is no more but I still hold fond memories of her.

We've since been with Cunard on the QE2 and RCI. Loved them all .......................we're going on X Centry in September and cant wait :D

Loved our Nov 07 Vancouver-San Diego 10N on Mercury, with 2N stay in San Francisco - A hotel on the Embarkadero! It was a Captains Club Special and had a lot of wine tastings.

Great going through the Panama Canal on Princess Jan 08. Loved seeing the volcanoes vent in Nicaragua and going thru the locks in the Canal.

But I guess my favorite was on the Constellation Transatlantic - San Juan to Dover. Mix of Caribbean and European ports and 5 days at sea! Got see Madeira Island which I think is one of the most beautiful - cliffs into the sea and covered with flowering plants!

As you can see below, I think I have a few upcoming cruises that could become my favorite!

I came to cruising reluctantly. I love travel but really wasn't keen on going cruising, but my mother sprung for the first...

IT BLEW MY MIND! :):eek::)

San Juan to Acapulco through the Canal on Ocean Princess.

I'm a destination oriented cruiser. I look forward to the Baltic and Alaska; I'd like to do Norwegian Coastal having done some day cruises in the fiords as a youngster.

Of the cruises I've done a Grand Med from Barcelona to Istanbul to Venice was terrific. Those are great cities. The Dardenelles at night was unique.

Ending the cruise with a few nights in Venice was magical. Walking one night with my young daughter, we crested a small bridge, stopped, lights reflecting on black canals, one could see through open windows of an adjacent palazzo where opera was being performed - the costumed and wigged silluettes of the singers framed by ornate windows and canals as the music and singing spilled into the night... Unforgettable moment. We continued on to the Piazza San Marco where orchestras were playing.

Yah - Day or night, take me back to Venice.
