JaneBP Posted August 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2008 Am curious as to if and when Trivia contest/s are scheduled. Are they also held on port days? I will be on the Christmas cruise and don't expect to disembark in most of the ports. Thanks!
Hambagahle Posted August 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2008 Trivia has become a very important part of our afternoon activities on board! (Maybe sad, but true - we love it!) On both Mariner and Voyager there was Trivia around 4.30pm each day. Tea first, then trivia, then bingo (we don't do that!) Even on port days - which for us were good days to play because some of the really good Trivia people went on shore!!
colleenmf Posted August 26, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2008 Just got off the Voyager 10 days ago. All port days. Trivia everyday right after tea. Never actually made it to Trivia but I did manage to get a scone once at tea. I think Trivia started around 4:30.
LOVE@CRUISE Posted August 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2008 Colleen, Who is the cruise director and captain on Voyager this time of year? We are doing the mediterranean in October, wondering about the crew members. Thanks!:)
DebbieH103 Posted August 26, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2008 We will be on the Christmas cruise, also, and we will be at trivia most days except when they are only in port in the afternoon like St. Lucia. Hubby will be golfing that day. It's just about time to make that final payment, so I know the trip will be here before we know it.
NCCruzQueen Posted August 26, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 26, 2008 I was on the Voyager in June. Amanda was the social hostess. She is quite nice, friendly and runs all over the ship. She has a needlepoint class, calligraphy class, and I believe a creative writing class to name a few. Also look for the Daily Quiz with trivia type questions (sometimes there is a theme) and the daily Sudoku Quiz. Both offer tokens for the first correct paper submitted. Bingo is usually held on sea days.
JaneBP Posted August 26, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted August 26, 2008 Thanks to all; figure the proximity to tea time will be lethal for me. I do love Trivia.
cruzndiz Posted August 27, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 27, 2008 Hello Experienced Cruisers! Did anybody, by any chance, happen to keep at least ONE copy of a daily Passages that they can scan or photograph?? I have looked all over these boards and all over the internet in fact, trying to find just ONE SAMPLE of a Passages from almost any RSSC ship.....doesn't have to be the Mariner; almost any RSSC ship will do. I am just trying to get a feel for life on board since only about half of our days are at port and the rest are at sea.

Wendy The Wanderer Posted August 27, 2008 #10 Share Posted August 27, 2008 I'm sure you'll get some takers there--I just threw out a bunch of daily passages and Ia Orana's from various cruises, not sure if I have any left. I did it under protest, only because I was moving to a condo.

colleenmf Posted August 27, 2008 #12 Share Posted August 27, 2008 Let's see if this works. Trying to upload the 2 pages from Passages that have the daily activities. All our days were port days and, if I remember correctly from a previous cruise, sea days had a lot more going on. Man, you need magnifying glass to read these. I guess I could email these to anyone who needs them. But the attachement size at CC is limited and can't figure out how to get these larger. JaneBP Posted August 27, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted August 27, 2008 This is a food activity question. Is there a place for 'early risers' to get juice, coffee, and buns? (I don't mean the buns in the gym, however.)
colleenmf Posted August 27, 2008 #14 Share Posted August 27, 2008 This is a food activity question. Is there a place for 'early risers' to get juice, coffee, and buns? (I don't mean the buns in the gym, however.) At the very least, you can order room service. It may take 20 minutes because everyone who ordered a cooked breakfast the night before with a time specified is in the queue but you can always get stuff like that 24/7. I couldn't sleep one night and ordered hot milk at about 3 am. The pool grill had a rather extensive buffet breakfast open at 6:30 am. Cereal, granola bars, something hot. Sorry I didn't eat there, just occassionally grabbed a granola bar as I walked by but the selection looked pretty good. The coffee bar had coffee 24/7 and they put out danish at 6:30 am. Rare RachelG Posted August 27, 2008 #15 Share Posted August 27, 2008 My husband got rather addicted to his morning fruit smoothie by the pool on our last cruise. They have all the fruits and veges out and make it for you as you wait--as early as 6:30.
NCCruzQueen Posted August 27, 2008 #16 Share Posted August 27, 2008 I forgot all about the smoothies, Rachel. They were delicious after a good walk. I hope the Navigator has a juice machine on the pool deck.
DebbieH103 Posted August 28, 2008 #17 Share Posted August 28, 2008 Thanks for the smoothie reminder because some days when I am full still from dinner I skip breakfast in fear of being too full for lunch (you see where this is going)...and I love smoothies. UNCQtea Posted August 28, 2008 #19 Share Posted August 28, 2008 Thanks Daren for posting those activity sheets. As someone who's never cruised before, it's a great help to look over those. And - it just got me even more excited for our trip!:D
Wendy The Wanderer Posted August 28, 2008 #20 Share Posted August 28, 2008 The Coffee Corner usually has a stock of croissants and pastries, and it's open really early.
JaneBP Posted August 28, 2008 Author #21 Share Posted August 28, 2008 Thanks for the information; it's not for me, but DH often likes to wander about and nosh a bit. 6:30 is plenty early. I am of the 'Room Service for breakfast is heaven' club.
DebbieH103 Posted August 28, 2008 #22 Share Posted August 28, 2008 Here is one I uploaded from October 27, 2007. The Mariner ones already posted are newer, but this is the Voyager itself. http://www.kodakgallery.com/Slideshow.jsp?UV=27649732271_638478893603&conn_speed=1&collid=67499463103.569592993603.1219940558996&mode=fromsite
