woodz Posted October 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2008 It's been almost a year since our last RCCL cruise and I was wondering what the price is for a can of soda? Also does the soda card come with a little red/white sticker and a cooler type cup? How much is it for a 7 day? My kids were soda drinkers, but I'm wondering if just buying a few cans would be better for me. Thanks
tgjr Posted October 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2008 I dont remember the price of the card, but it was a bit expencive? nevertheless it save you for a lot of trubble. We do always buy the cards to the kids so they can do whatever they whant, eaven pick up sodas for me. (LOL) We do also do this on shorter cruises. satxdiver Posted October 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2008 I can be only partially helpful. They will put a red/white sticker on your seapass and give you an insulated cup. Cost was $48.30 which includes the 15% tip. I have never bought a can of soda pop on the ship but would guess it at $1.50 to $2.00 plus the tip. As I recall there was a "kid" price that was less. You can bring a reasonable amount of soda pop on board and purchase more at your ports of call. A glass of ice is always free at the bars (so far!). Hopefully someone else can give you better information.

jrlamour Posted October 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2008 I'm thinking about getting the soda card. Does it work everywhere on the ship (ie dining room, bars, clubs, casino, pool area)?

Thanks Soda card is $6/day plus 15% gratuity for adults and $4/day plus 15% gratuity for kids 17 and under. Yes, it is just a little sticker they put on your seapass and you do receive an insulated cup. Individual cans of soda are $2.24 including tip. As you probably remember, the soda card is for fountain soda only, not cans. To answer jrlamour, yes, it works in the main dining room, casino, bars and everywhere else you listed. It also covers soda on Coco Cay and Labadee. It does not cover soda ordered through room service as that is cans.
Rare Lionesss Posted October 12, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 12, 2008 We got ginger ale from the bar on our soda card. He opened the can, poured it in a glass and off we went. We just flashed our sea pass with soda sticker on it at him. This was on the Mariner this August. Later
cb at sea Posted October 12, 2008 #10 Share Posted October 12, 2008 A can of soda can be purchased without a "card"--it'll run about $2 per can (that includes the "tip"). Or, you can bring your own soda--they don't care. We aren't huge soda drinkers, so we would just buy a can now and then, and split it for lunch. I think we spent $6 on soda on our 10-day cruise! (Now, what we spent on beer....that's another story!!!)
woodz Posted October 12, 2008 Author #11 Share Posted October 12, 2008 When we started cruising 8 years ago soda was free. Then it was about $3 a day and now it looks like it is $7 a day. When we travel with our son, it is his goal to go to every bar on the ship every day at least once, usually twice or more (including ordering numerous drinks during "Showtime"). He always got his money's worth!!! I think I will just get a few cans. Thanks for all the info.

cot427 Posted October 12, 2008 #13 Share Posted October 12, 2008 Soda card is definitely worth it. I get one every cruise, and its totally worth it. Well, I'm under 18, so you figure 28+tax and tip comes to like 33 or something, so I believe its like 2 dollars for a can so you have to drink around 17 sodas, which is less than I drank on a 7 night cruise. I drank 3 at each dinner, so thats 21 right there. PLUS ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT.
