Are we referring to different concierges?

I'm not sure....

My sister stayed in a Concierge Class cabin, and she received a letter signed "Nadia Amrouch, Concierge". The letter explained that the concierge was there to assist with port arrangements and private arrangements for restaurants. She is located at a desk on deck 3 next to guest relations during the hours listed in Celebrity Today.

The woman who was assisting with self-disembarkation this morning was called Jolie (I believe it was spelled slightly differently). Her name badge said that she was the Michael's Club ambassador (or something similar to that).

I also wanted to add that I am generally someone who appreciates the job of the cruise director, and has truly enjoyed most of the CDs I've sailed with.

We found Ken Mills to be very loud, egotistical and annoying, bordering on obnoxious. It was very off-putting that he introduced himself at the Welcome Aboard show on the first night as "not your typical cruise director" because he is "high energy, fun and very involved" essentially dissing other CDs which we thought wasn't very nice. He also said that he was brought in from another cruiseline (Norwegian) because Celebrity CDs are typically kind of dull and lackluster. (Steve was our CD last year on the Summit, and he was far from dull - he was very energetic and visible, without being abrasive and without having to insult other CDs in an attempt to make himself look superior). As the week went on, Ken really grated on our nerves - he was so loud and intrusive at the poolside activities that we walked away.

Events hosted by the activities manager Luigi (or by anyone else on the activities staff) were much more enjoyable because he was more humble and not so in-your-face while still being energetic, fun and effective.

There were activities that we really enjoyed last year under Steve's directorship (such as the Q&A with the singers and dancers, the concert with the singers and dancers, and most especially the jam session with the lounge acts, orchestra and singers) that were sorely missed on this cruise with Ken in charge of the activities.

It often puzzles me when people say that they don't care who the CD is, and that they avoid them like the plague because we have always enjoyed a great CD. However, if this was my first cruise, I would walk away feeling the same as those people.

Jolie- pronounced Yola, is the Michael's club hostess. The club is now designated as an area for CS, Royal and Penthouse guests only. This is part of the new program of giving additional perks to suite guests. The club is open 24 hours a day and you can drink, have snacks and also provide some special entertainment to those suite guests.

Per the other e-mail regarding Ken Mills, we thought he was ok- not the best CD, but also not the worst-

I think the Zenith members (3,000+ pts) in the Captain's Club also get entry to Michaels.

The previous Summit Staff posting remains in effect as of the 8/24 sailig.

Jole Jacoby is how the Michael's Club Concierge spells her name on her card and in emails, not Jolie.

The party band is Party N' Soul

There is also a Duo (The Lost Boys) plus two soloist acts, and the DJ, and maybe a Jazz Ensemble.

Happy sailing,

Jenna

What will be happening on the Summit Repo cruise on Oct 19? I read on this board that our CD will be Richard Spacey. So excited about that. Any other changes in crew?

Even crew members can't predict with certainty who will be onboard. All that we can do is post those staff members that we have met on the latest sailing and any clues that they give about their contract length. Enjoy your repositioning cruise.

Thanks Jenna. I wish more people would post the entertainers on board the different ships.

And of course, there is the Scratch DJ, can't forget him! In all honesty the music he has been playing by the pool, and in the Atrium has been a great mix! Very fun and appealing to a wide range of audiences.

Happy sailing,

Jenna

  • 2 weeks later...
Hi,

anyone got any info on who is on Reflection at the moment please? Bands and crew. May have just missed it, but had a quick read through and can't find anything too recent.

Thanks,

Gemma

Hi Gemma:)...you know Reflection is in Europe now so there is a chance

we will have different people in November....just depends on when they

all boarded but after a TA crossing there can be quite a few changes.

I scrolled back and see the most recent list is on August 24th....no

band is listed but the staff is on there.

Gemma, here is that list:

RF....would be ours........click on the link:)

I wonder what the crew think of this weeks announcement that Century is doing a b2back trip out of Singapore and then leaving for a Chinese company , not CDF?

I don't think that it changes anything. The ship leaves Celebrity, the crew goes home or is reassigned whether Century went to a French or a Chinese company loosely aligned with RCI.

Hi, I agree with Arno. The crew will have 2 choices. If their contract

is up when the last cruise ends they will go home. Otherwise they

will be assigned to another ship.

Thanks Lois. To be honest, I completely forgot where Reflection was. I presumed we would have pretty much whoever is on board now. Just wanted to check out the bands. Always like to see a few of them a few times, but some from last year were awful..nice to know who you have ahead of time ;)

In fairness I think it was one band's first contract. They supposedly came on board with us, according to a barman. So I shouldn't be mean.

Thank you for the update.

Crew on Solstice, Sept .

Cruise Director Patti Honacki

Executive Chef Markus Nufer

I read somewhere that Kyle Dodson would soon be the CD on Solstice.

Did anyone mention an upcoming change before the voyage to Australia?

This is the first time that I've come across Markus Nufer as an executive chef.

Do Celebrity Captains do a similar 10 week rotation like RC Captains do?

Normally three months on/off plus a fudge factor here and there depending on repositioning cruises.

However on Celebrity the captains are much more visible.

Patti did say she's leaving soon but she didn't say when.

Also my post above is for August 29 not Sept 29.

Have tried to read through most recent posts, but didn't find any current or new info for Infinity. We sail on October 27 and trying to figure out whose on board. Will Alejandro (sp) be the CD? Would like to hear from previous Infinity cruisers what staffers they liked in the past.
