just finished my sew-in for my cruise next weekend.

I'm thinking about cutting it though b/c I didn't realize it would be so long!

LOVE! You look great! I would leave it at that length too. Your cruise is coming up so fast, have a great time :)

Just watched a YouTube on how ro out on a swim cap. You layer with a plastic cap,a stocking cap and then the swim cap. Just ordered one from Amazon! Problem solved....just wear a swimcap!!

Swimcaps never work for me. My edges (especially by my neck) always get soaked even when I try the double capping technique.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to get wet & wavy hair? I'm pretty sure that's what I'm going to try to go for if I can find something I like. :)

I had my hair done last night with tracks sewn to micro beads. I am having a hard time puting it up and hiding the top row. What should i do? Also I am not going away till the fifth will it last me or should I have waited? Also it is really frizzy

I had a friend tell me that she spent $10 in a cap and her hair was dry all over. I however have thicker and longer hair. I'm okay with spending money, but a swim cap would be better for me.

Has anyone had success with a swim cap or is this the reason for the thread because they don't work, lol.

I've done research on swimcaps and it is possible for them to keep your hair dry with the plastic cap and stocking cap and the cap applies the right way. I'm going to try it!

Ladies...I have relaxed shoulder length hair. I normally wrap and flight iron my hair when I'm home. On cruises, I just pull it back in a pony tail, which gets OLD real fast. Here is a pic of me. :)

I was thinking of trying a fake pony tail for my upcoming cruise. Any suggestions on where I can find a pony tail like this?? I love the look of this pony tail, but I've always worn my own hair, so I wouldn't even know what to ask for if I went to the store or online.

Hi Lyncoya! Great photo, you look pretty! :)

I like to shop online with Luxurious Hair Boutique. They have a Facebook page if you want to join it and keep up on specials they run. Here are a couple ponytails that could work. The first two can work as half-wigs or ponytails:

I hope this helps you get started! I think that style would look great on you.

Hi ladies!!!! (and gents I guess?)

Well I have been trolling this thread for a while and have read every single response. Youguys have been beyond helpful. Reading this thread motivated me to get off my butt and start seriously scooping out some hairstyles/products for my cruise (which is a month away...YAY!:p).

So....after considering all my options, thanks to all your lovely suggestions, I have finally come up with my cruise hair gameplan. lol Here it goes:

- For "wet and wild"/daytime/fun in the pool or beach days, I bought a cheap 100% Human hair premium blend (ENCORE) wet and wavy extensions.....$16 bucks for a pack...only need 1 pack because the hair is BIG!

- Now for "grown and sexy"/nighttime/dinner/club/steakhouse, I bought the Janet Prestige super french remy wet and wavy extensions....$140 for 2 packs (18inches, and 14inches)

So, you may (or may not) be wondering how in the world I plan on switching back and forth from weave to weave....Well the answer is very simple: I will be sewing on CLIP-INS! Seriously ladies, I think this is the way to go. Here are my reasons for going this route:

1-I dont have to fuss with my hair at all after being in the pool all day. Simple un-clip the "daytime" extensions and wash (if I feel like it...:)) They are the cheap $16 ones and can be mishandled as I wish.

2-The nighttime expensive $140 bucks one will always look fresh to death:D

2b-They seriously take less than 10 minutes to clip on. I just have to braid the front (2-3 braids) at night to get the wavy look.

3-I can actually wash my own hair every night...with no thread to worry about! (imagine sand getting into a sew-in or the braids underneath:eek:

4-Its much cheaper for me to sew in my wig clips (about $10 bucks for the clips) than to pay $140 to have someone sew in extensions into my hair.

5-The main man prefers my natural hair when its sexy time...for technical reasons of course...;) And I am sure there will be plenty of that!

So there...My very own perfect plan. Hope this helps someone. And honestly, sewing in the clips is not difficult at all. Just get the thick thread, a couple of wig clips and curved needles from the beauty supply store and you are set. I am sooooooo EXCITED!!!!!

Just a post cruise update guys, here's how the hair looked. It is the wet and wavy sew in on formal evening, before i hopped into all that salt/chlorine water. It did hold up pretty nicely though

Very cute! :)

I am african American and i just get a virgin perm and bring hairpieces

With a virgin perm your hair will dry straight with a little body.

I love the water and I am in the water everyday all day

so I have to wash my hair everyday

I use Pantene wah and conditioner

Hope this helps

That's my plan! I'll wear vacation ponytails :)

I love Honey Hemp conditioner. LOVE. It makes my hair feels like silk. I use the co-poo method, and the honey hemp conditioner is my "conditioner". I use Suave as my "Shampoo".

Hair Dew is what I hoped that Pink Lotion would be when I first tried it. I don't know about anything else, but Pink Lotion just sits on my hair and attracts dirt. (Sometimes the Hair Dew ends up rubbed on my ashy elbows if I can't find my lotion. It sinks right in and doesn't feel oily.)

If I am doing a wash n go, I wash, condition, hair dew, and shine and define. If I am plaiting for an eventual braid-out (which is what I do all winter), I use the burnt sugar pomade.

I don't use the Greg Juice because my hair and glycerin don't get along too well. I am planning on trying the Go Tea and the Honey Water

I LOVE the Milk Shake in my bath...

I also love that ALL their stuff is natural and paraben and SLS Free. And most of it smells like ice cream!

Don't get me started. I can be a walking, talking, Oyin Handmade commercial. (Just to cover bases, I am not affiliated with them, just a happy customer. But, if Jamila ever wanted to authorize Oyin Handmade Personal Consultants, I would have the Philly Area SOLD)

Well Jeannie, you have another Oyin Handmade customer here, lol! I read this post a while back and have been looking at the products for a while now. I just placed an order for some mini versions of their products. Can't wait to give them a try!

If anyone wants to order a lil something, I went to retailmenot.com and found a 10% coupon code for Oyin. The code is outlikealamb. All I ordered were the sample sizes and the code worked for them. Happy shopping. :)
